I don't know where you live, but there is place in downtown Pittsburgh Neighborhood Legal Services that is free or relatively inexpensive, depending on your income.
Also, in Westview there is a law office called Daniel & Kasbee. They work for a flat fee, depending on the case.

Hope that helps.

Not likely you will get a loan easily. Try one of the churches for help -i.e. Christ Church at Grove Farm, or Allegheny Center Christian Missionary Alliance. These churches offer a variety of services and may be able to help you via one of their parishioners.
Also, Try the Allegheny County Bar Association for pro-bono attorney. They have pro-bono section. Pray.

C.,
Have you tried Neighborhood Legal Services? ###-###-####
You can visit
www.palawhelp.org/PA/Index.cfm
and
www.palegalservices.com
Also, I have heard to try to use a mortgage company that does "manual underwriting" for a mortgage if you have credit problems--they don't just use a credit score they consider all info. Also, I remember hearing that you are NOT responsible for your husband's failure to honor debts. According to Financial Guru Dave Ramsay, you only need to have receipts for monthly rent and paid utilities. You definitely need to talk to an attorney. Good luck to you!

North Hills Community Outreach (NHCO) runs a monthly program called Ask the Attorney night. If you qualify financially, you get a free half hour consultation with an attorney, and sometimes the attorney will pick up your case. Harriet Gibbs at ###-###-####, option 2, x 3217, to pre-register. Sometimes, if the problem needs immediate attention, a phone consultation is arranged prior to the night.

There are lots of programs out there to help restore credit. NHCO might also be able to help guide you to some good ones.
