Seeking Good OB/GYN in Plantation, FL Area.

I've lived in the Plantation area for almost 2 years from Miami and I'm looking for a good ob doctor. I'm hoping to find one in my area so that I don't have to drive to Miami which I dislike very much.

I went to one in my area 2 weeks ago and didn't really like her. I would greatly appreciate your help.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

First of all I would like to thank all of you for your response. I finally went to Dr. Helen Spalding in Hollywood, FL. I must say that I'm very happy with her. The staff is very nice and professional and Dr. Spalding is really nice and very professional.

Well the first visit went well I explained to her all that I was going through. She asked me if I've ever been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. I told her no, that I've had a cyst in my ovary in the past but nothing serious. I also was diagnosed in 1997 with cervical dysplasia and had to have surgery for it. Other than that it's just been really irregular periods for years. Well she sent me for extensive hormonal check up and scheduled me for an transvaginal ultrasound. Well it turns out that my LH & FSH hormones were out of whack and my testosteron level was pretty high. The ultrsound revealed that I did indeed have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. So, she prescribed some progesterone so that I can ovulate so that I can start a menstrual cycle. I haven't had one since January 25th, 2009. I also have to get on a healthy diet and exercise routine so that it can help me with my condition.

I'm just happy that I found a doctor that has found what's wrong with me. I told her that it's been 4 years of feeling awful, gaining weight and irregular menstrual cycles. I'm glad that soon I'll start feeling better.

Again I would like to thank you all.

Dr. Lawrence Stempel
He has a midwife on staff as well. Never a long wait. Takes his time with patients and you feel like you're a person, not just another "file". He was referred to me by the Emergency Room Director at Memorial West. He said he would take his wife to him.

Amazing doctor. Downside is it's a long wait, but he's worth it! :) My best friend drove him crazy, but he was always so kind and I was there for the delivery.... AMAZING!

You're in luck!! Look up Odalis Sijin. She worked in Plantation when I used to work at Plantation General. She is a great doctor, smart and very nice. I would go to her myself if not for insurance reasons. (I'm in an HMO that limits where I can go.)

Dr. Vincente Silva! He is located off Hiatus and just north of Pembroke Road. I highly recommend him and his staff is wonderful, too. ###-###-####. He delivered my baby almost two years ago and I decided to keep him as my gyn. He is thorough and conservative in his approach. Very detailed. He is a bit quirky but smart people usually are!

Hi M.,

The OB doctor I go to is not in Plantation but still very good, Dr. Jose Berthe at Royal Palm OB/GYN [8110 Royal Palm Blvd., Suite 108, Coral Springs @ ###-###-####]. They have various doctors, midwives and nurse practitioners. Dr. Tali Rombro is very nice too. The only downside is that sometimes the wait is long.

All the best, I.

She is very nice and takes her time with her patients. I never felt rushed by her. Her office staff are always polite and professional and I've never had a really long wait there. I believe she only delivers at Broward General though. She didn't deliver my son because I opted for a birth center, but she was supportive of it and offered to be my back up doctor if I had any problems (the birth center is staffed by midwives).
