I am in desperate need of some highlights and a nice cut, but have yet to find a place in the Duluth, Norcross area that won't charge a fortune. Does anyone have a place they trust where I can get out of there for under $120 total?

What can I do next?

I've gone to Felicity for years and she is so affordable, quick and talented. I just got a cut/color (single process) for only $70! She sets her own prices and has a salon in Salon Sola near the Monkey Joe's/Publix on Statesbridge Rd. in Duluth.

I love Alison Edwards...she owned a salon years ago and now just works out of her basement in my neighborhood. She won't accept tips and is very reasonable. She has a professional, clean and comfortable salon in her basement. You can contact her at: ____@____.com lives in Alpharetta off near Jones Bridge Road.

Good luck,
L.

Hi J.,
Van Michael and Aveda in Buckhead both have Training salons. New Talents is the Van Michael one, I cannot remember the Aveda one. They are usually very good, but way less than the full salon. J.

For the past 4 years, I followed my stylist from Tony & Guy, to Dass, to Level Spa Salon. Overspending on hairstyling and gas! Recently, I went to Empire Beauty School in Duluth (Club Dr/Pleasant Hill). I have been there 3 times and the most I spent was $20! I even went there and had my hair styled for my wedding on October 10th! It came out EXACTLY like the picture. I know alot of women are hesitant to go to beauty schools because they have heard the horror stories but I went in for a $60 trim at Tony & Guy and went from having hair down my back to hair right underneath my ears! Horror stories happen ANY & EVERYWHERE!!

There's a Paul Mitchell school in Roswell on Holcomb Bridge Rd, just west of 400. It's called the Esani Institute. Just be VERY specific about what you want and keep reminding them if they seem like they're going off track.

I asked for "subtle highlights, so that when it grows out, there won't be an obvious line" and they way over-did it. I already had some previous color, and to avoid an unexpected reaction, it's was easier for them to just remove ALL the color and start from scratch. But the color was NOT subtle - in fact one of my co-workers that I see every day didn't recognize me from behind.

Still, I'll go back. I just won't be as shy about questioning them.

I know this will sound funny but after trying all of the high priced salons around town and not getting good results, my father in law suggested I talk to Jimmy at the Hair Shack to see who he would reccommend depending on what you are looking for. Their prices are rediculously low and they do a great job.

They are in Snellville, but it might be worth the drive.
