Seeking Hair Stylist in Sugar Land Area

I swear I've been on a quest forever to find a great hair stylist.
This is the thing, I don't want to spend $75+ on a cut. I have been so many places, even splurged for the "master sylist" at Toni & Guy for his $70 cut and looked like Florence Henderson.
Let me know if you can recommend someone in the Sugar Land/Missouri City area. I am picky about natural looking color/highlights. My hair is thick and a little wavy, requires a lot of styling to look decent. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I take my kids (15 & 17 yrs old) to the "Super Cuts" shop at the Fountains Shopping Center next door to Office Max. They only pay $11.95 for the cut and little kids pay less. The entire crew there are very good or my kids would not let me take them there! Good luck and let me know if you go & did you like the crew.

Hi L.,

Try Angela at the Eduard Jorj salon. Her number is ###-###-####, and she is very reasonable. The salon is located at the Sugar Creek exit off of 59S, in the strip mall with the CVS (northeast corner) next to Finish Line Sports. She is excellent with color and her work is reasonably priced ($45 for shampoo/cut/style).

Leticia Pena has been my stylist for over 5 years. I am faithful! She is constantly going to classes and updating her skills. Everywhere I go, I am being complimented on my color/style. She is very affordable maybe $20 or so if you get a cut and blow dry. The $75+ is more for like a color appt. She is currently at Judy's House of Beauty at Hwy 6 and Bissonnett in the Kroger's/LA Fitness Plaza. Her number is ###-###-####. Let her know I sent you! N. (just went red for the first time in December :) )

A lady named Hema in Sugarland job is a serious hair wizard. It's really family-like she's very friendly and dead honest. If she thinks something won't work she'll tell you straight. She's more interested in making a client happy than making money off them. She wants to know how you style your hair and your lifestyle and what you do so she can then create a look for you that you can actually recreate at home. She's excellent at highlights and color. I've been going to her for 28 years. I can tell you from experience she is a true talent and her prices have always been reasonable. I even went to her daughter's wedding. She's that nice!

OK, I am picky about stylist too. I go to "Henny" (funny name, I know) at Visible Changes (FC Mall) and she is a Master Stylist or has some fancy title. It ain't cheap, but she is older and very good. Also, Parvin is who I use for highlights and she is an expert too. Very picky and precise. She's not cheap either. Both are good though.

I just had a great experience at Albert Luiz Salon (located at Highway 6 and Williams Trace). I can't for the life of me find the stylist card though. Her name was Meredith (I think). If I can find it, I will write back more. The salon overall impressed me and I think the cut was $55.

I know what you mean, I hate when it is time for me to cut my hair, but anyway my daugter and I have been going to Kim at Visible Changes in First Colony. I had someone cut my hair and messed it up and did not know how to style at that. Kim was my life saver and she knew how to cut and style, before her I would get people that did not know how to style, I want to see what the end result is and people just don't know how to style, but yet they want 50 -60 bucks for something I can do myself. Anyway I read all of the responses and I have had my experience with Vietnamese hairstylist and they may be cheap but they cut and cut and cut they do not know when to stop and they always want to color or highlight something! If you want to keep your hair at a decent length I do not recommend a veitnamese person to cut your hair. The 3 things I want in a hairstylist is that they do what I ask, know how to cut, style, and you can basically tell if their hair is styled, but then looks can be deceiving too. Kim is a master hairstylist at FC mall and she listens to you!

Susie at Eduard Jorge is great. They are on 59 and Sugar Creek. She does really a good job and I think a cut is around $50, maybe a little less. I got cut and color for $80, I think that is pretty reasonable.

Hope that helps!

If you don't mind a quick drive up the beltway, I swear by Tony and Friends salon off Bellaire. While all the stylists and many of the clients are Vietnamese, I am Caucasian and have never been disappointed. I've sent 5 friends and my mother, all with varying styles and hair, and they've all loved it (my mom actually only gets her hair cut here now and she lives in Dallas!). They are inexpensive (maybe $25 or so for a shampoo, cut and style) and are worth it! Ty is my current favorite, but I also used Tony (the owner) for years. I found them 7 years ago b/c a girlfriend of mine teaches at a school nearby and all the teachers went there.

Take Beltway 8 toward Houston. exit Bellaire and go right. THey're in the first shopping center you can turn into on the left.

I have used Lanna at Creatif in Sugar Land on Hwy 6 and Williams Trace for over 15 years. I have naturally curly hair and she does a great job. I do not highlight or color so I'm not sure how much that would cost. There are several stylist there and have friends that use them. I suggest you give them a call or stop by to see if that is what you like.

His name is Desmond and is located at Sugarland Day Spa and Salon. I think that is the name of it. It is on William's Trace and 59 right next to the Outback Steakhouse. He is great. He was at Sienna Day Spa and Salon and has recently relocated there. I've been going to him for a while and always gives a great cut and highlights as well. He's good at what he does, passionate, just fun to be around. He's not cheap but well worth the 40plus bucks you will spend. I have tried the less expensive "places" and have not had any luck with any of them. Good luck.

We agree with the unbelievable costs of hair cutting...I am letting mine grow for "Locks of Love" so I have mot been cutting mine lately. My boys go to a little salon at the corner of Eldridge and Jesse Pirtle, in Sugar Land....K Salon. The owner, Kathy, is Vietnamese, but, she has an unbelievable business. Her prices are much more reasonable than other places. You might want to go and chat with her and see what she recommends. Tell her you can not afford the high prices....give her a try. Her sister, Mia has a nail salon right next door, I go there for my nails. They work with each other well.

I feel you on that! I have had problems too since we moved here. I went to Spa Roma that a friend recommended and I walked out with a $225 bill. I about died. So I decided to try el chepo at JC Pennys... I went to the new on in Richmond/Rosenberg. I went to Kim and I have say, her hair cut was as good as the other ladys. Now, I was just barley pregnant at the time and didn't get my hair colored. I will be going in soon again to get that done. But the haircut was only like $32 or something like that. It looked great! I have always been one to go to the nicest places, but with one baby and one on the way, it just isn't feasible anymore.

Love, love, love Sandra at Visible Changes in First Colony Mall. She is currently out until March, so I have been to Andre there as well and was pleased with the cut. Still waiting for Sandra to return. I have fairly thick hair that looks ridiculous if it dries naturally so I do quite a bit of upkeep on it as well. I don't know about coloring and highlights there as I have not had anything like that done in recent years. The cut is about $65, but well worth it. In the past 2 years that I have been going to her, I have had so many people ask who cuts my hair that I started carrying a stack of her business cards around with me. Good luck!
