I am looking for a family Dr. I have always taken my children to a pediatrician and my husband and I have used a family Dr. Since I can't even seem to find 1 good Dr. I am willing to have 1 good Dr. see all of us if I need to. I have called the hospital and tried a few listings and even tried 1 Dr. for our daughter(it was a family healthcare here in Anderson) but, I wasn't impressed (they don't give vaccinations) I found that odd. We are new to this area. We have lived in 2 states so, far and I loved both of our pediatricians and family Drs in both states. I don't want to have to take my children to a second location if they need vaccinations. I think that's ludicrous. It's hard enough to get an appt. and get in most times. Any suggestions? There has to be people in this area that are happy with there Drs. and hopefully they are accepting new patients. We are currently living in Anderson but, will be moving to Easley. I am interested in either area. Thanks!

So What Happened?

I ended taking our children to Anmed pediatric associates and we are seeing Dr. Maddox. I really like him a lot. He is a perfect fit for us. Our son has asthma so we need someone who is aggressive enough to handle that but, not overly aggressive. Dr. Maddox is what we were looking for. He also has a great personality (bedside manner). We are still working on the general practitioner for my husband and myself. I tried to call one of the local Anmed Drs. and they told me that we would have to apply to be a patient and it could take up to 3 weeks for a response. I have called several Drs. who promised to get back with me and never did call back. Since my husband was in dire need of seeing a Dr. they recommended that we go to Urgent care at the hospital which worked out fine. He was able to be treated and they charge you the same as if it were an office visit instead of an emergency room visit. I also discussed our concerns about how hard it has been to find a Dr. and I was told at Anmed that there is a shortage of Drs. in this area. Hopefully we will get in with someone soon but, it's not an easy process in this area. Luckily we have great insurance; I can't imagine how hard it must be if you don't. If Drs. have to decide whether they will accept you as a patient, you could have problems if you don't have really great insurance. I don't think that's right.

I was new to the area about 5 yrs ago and worried about finding a good doctor. I have been going to AnMEd Women and Children's Hospital. They have a Family Doctor's suite, I like Rebecca Norris, and we take our child up stairs to see her pediatrician, Dr. Draisen who I just love. Both are very nice and have provided good care for my family. They are located at 2000 E. Greenville St., Anderson, SC 29621. Dr. Norris/Primary Care Assoc number is ###-###-####. They also have OB/GYNs in the same building, lab work can be done within the building too. If you have special issurance make sure the correct forms are used or you'll be billed the lab work amount. I have to always make certain LAb Corp forms are used for my insurance.
But I think you'll like these doctors or their partners.

K., Pediatric Associates is great for the kids--if you can get in there. I have been using their practice for 11 yrs.--they are located at the ANMED health center on highway 81. The phone # is ###-###-####. I see an internist for my needs so i can't really recommend a family practitioner.

I would try Anmed Healthdare. They have many doctors in many fields. Hope it works out for you. Our family moved a little over a year ago and it is hard to find a doctor that was as good as the last one especially for children.
Good Luck
