That seems like waaayyyy too long to heal. I have scratched my cornea many times because of working on a tractor without goggles on (I now always wear goggles). A couple of the scratches were very bad according to my opthamologist. Even with the bad ones, they only took a few weeks to heal. I'm glad you're going back to the doctor (hopefully an eye doctor). Feel better soon!

Are you seeing an ophthalmologist? If you are only going to your PCM then get a referral. This seems like a long time. I have had scratched corneas and have been back into contacts within weeks.

If you are already seeing an ophthalmologist, get a second opinion.

Eyes heal very rapidly, but healing time depends on how deep the scratch is. But regardless, your healing time seems excessive. I had two scratches when I was a kid, and they healed in a couple of days. My son's eye got scratched last year pretty badly (rock to the eye at recess), and his healed in a week.

Go back to the eye doctor. Is it an opthamologist? If you aren't getting relief, I would get a second opinion. Your cornea is nothing to mess around with.

Please go today!

Dang, mien didn't feel that bad. My baby hit me and scratched mine at the end of February. It just felt like hair in my eye...couldn't keep it open...lots of watering, sensitive to light...driving with one eye. I went to the ER and was diagnosed and treated and sent home with antibiotic/pain reliever. It started feeling better right away, but since then there have been about three occasions when I've opened my eyes early in the morning and found that it was watering something terrible and very sensitive to light. When that happens, I apply my medicine and put on my eye patch to give it a break until I have to leave for work. That works for me. (I probably should get it checked out, though.)

I've had an ill-fitting contact lens scratch my cornea.
Once they realized that's what did it, and I stopped wearing contacts, it took about 2 weeks (max) to heal.
It is EXTREMELY painful and I don't know how you've tolerated it this long. I needed pain meds to deal.
Maybe there's an infection or something?
Good luck.

I scratched mine from rubbing it after getting acid from a plant leaf in it. They said it was just like putting real acid in it and so they had to irrigate it with water running into my eye for a timed period which they did in the ER. I then had to wear a patch on it for a short time and I think I put some drops in it but not sure. I was painful for a bit, poured water, and yet healed fine. I couldn't keep it open from watering and pain and that's why they put the patch on it.

Seems like along time to me as well. I burned my entire cornea with a curling iron (was curling my bangs, curling iron was "stuck" in my hair, I pulled to get it out and your natural reaction when you pull is that it jerks back as well...you sotra can't help yourself apparently?? and my curling iron went right into my entire eye ball). It hurt soo so bad. I could not open my eye at all until I got to the ER and they numbed it, and even that was difficult.

They gave me meds for it, patched it and I could not drive for several days, then it was fine. Eyes heal incredibly fast I was told. I went back for a recheck a week later and it was all fine, just stayed on antibiotics for a few more days.

Both my hubby and brother have had metal pieces and shavings and wood splinters removed from their eyes, along with many scratches (related to working in the auto body industry and various home projects and NOT wearing eye protection when younger) and they always heal within a week or so. Amazing!

I would definately seek further medical attention!!
