Eye Injury from Water Sprayer

Yeah I get a darwin tonight. I go outside at midnight to move the sprinkler. no shoes, little nighty, NO LIGHTS. I trip on the hose, and face plant onto the sprinkler head, which was turning at the that exact moment, and got sprayed directly in the eye ball. HURTS LIKE A MOTHER! I took some Ibuprofen and I am laying down but can't really open it yet, JUST stings. Think it might require trip to ER? Can I lose eyesight for this? Right now I am Popeye-ing it and its getting better every about 20 minutes If I do open my eye I see, but its blurry. Cant tell if its cause it tears up from opening it or what. Anyone have similar issue? Thank god it was dark and the grass was wet, no one saw or heard me wipe it, which makes me get the NINJA Darwin award!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

am ok now ladies lol, though its still hurts its more pressure hurting, than like actual stinging and itchy hurting. I think I basically punched myself in the eye with high pressure water.

MM, it's morning as I write. Did you go to the ER?

If you didn't, even if it's better, please call an opthamologist's office and get in there to be seen today. That eye is too important to let go.

Hugs!
Dawn

Depending on the pressure of the water you could have done some serious damage to your eye. Just a scratched cornea hurts like hell and why not get the meds to make the pain go away! Plus they will give you antibiotics so you don't get an infection in your eye.

oh MM! only you could post something this dire and STILL have me laughing!
go to the doctor for sure. it's probably just fine, but your eyeballs are nothing to take lightly.

I would try to get into an eye dr in the morning. There is a chance from the force of the water it could have scratched or cut your eye. If that's the case then they will give you some drops to put in it to help it heal with out getting infected and take some of the irritation away.

I hope you feel better soon!

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry! Eye injuries really hurt. I'm wondering if you scratched your cornea. When that happened to me it was one of the worst pains of my life. It was hard to even go outside to get to the doctor (due to the light).

I would see how it feels today, and then go to the ER or eye doctor.

The good news is that eye injuries seem to heal quickly, at least superficially (mine did anyway). From time to time I would rip it open again (from dry eye).

Good luck - you poor woman! :(

I've had more then a few ninja moments myself. If it still hurts today it is possible that you have some kind of abrasion. If you do go see an eye doc, they got some pretty good med's that take away the pain.

My 2 year old kicked her brother in the face and I thought he was over reacting (he is known to) but the net morning I knew it was more then that. Her foot scratched his cornea, one drop of the med's and he felt 90% better.

Ninja Darwin! That's the most elusive of all the Darwin Awards! ;)

Is it swelling? If I were in your shoes, I'd give it till the morning. If by the morning you still can't open it, I'd go to the ER (or walk-in clinic)

Good luck hon! I hope you get to feeling better!
