Sad and Upset

Hi ladies, this isn't a question, sorry. But i do need advise or would like to hear your stories. In april of 2010 I had a physical exam , blood work and all, with my primary care physician in which everything came back good, except my sugar was a little high, nothing to worry about, all my Dr said was to walk at least three times a day for 20 mins and just watch my sugar intake. After that I joined the gym for a few months then stopped for the holidays. During my visit she told me she wanted to see me again in six months for a follow up. That would have been in Oct . Well in Aug I lost my insurance so obviously i couldn't attend my follow up appt. During my visit in April after my physical i told my dr that I'd been having leg pain, i explained to her how and what and all she said was i needed to move around more, that is why i joined the gym. Well...here i am months later and I still have leg pain. Sometimes my legs don't let me sleep comfortably at night. I worry I could be having some blood clottingor something clogging up. Well, the other day i was looking at my legs in the mirror and I was able to see my veins!! they were very clear, visible. They are not popping out or bulging out but you can see them very clearly, they are thick and long. At first i thought i was able to see them because I am so white and pale. I'm so afraid of them popping out. I started the gym again and been cutting down my portions but this was way before i noticed my veins. yuck. Now i'm super scared. Now i'm thinking my veins being so visible could have something to do with my pain. And now i don't have insurance, i can't even afford to pay a dr visit in payments. They are just too expensive. I'm so upset that back when i told my Dr about my veins , why didn't she examine me carefully or could have sent me for a procedure or something. Why didn't i complain more. I was reading online that if you lose weight, take walks, that you're veins can actually shrink. Is that true? Do any of you know if that is really true. thank you

What can I do next?

I can see my veins... I have pretty pale skin, and I can sometimes see the big vein and a few smaller ones running all the way down the top part of my leg, down to my knees, and they end a little bit below there. (sometimes being some days I notice it, some days I don't.)

a visit with a primary care dr isn't really all that expensive, and most are willing to work with you as a cash patient... i know my parents' family dr sees them for like $50, now that's the visit itself, NOT any labs/testing. call your dr and explain the situation. btw, MANY ppl have visible veins and you're saying it's visible NOW, who's to say it was even visible then? DRs don't examine every little thing. it sounds like you are probably heavy and need to eat healthy and exercise a little. i'd drop the gym membership and use that money for a DR visit personally, walk around the neighborhood everyday for exercise. the veins are likely "nothing", but get it checked if you're that worried - the peace of mind will do you good, you're gonna work yourself up and cause some other health issues. take care of yourself and get to the DR.

EDITED TO ADD: hmm... just to "get to know you" a little better, i looked at your past postings... a week ago you talk about airline tickets and $700 in cash for as surprise, yet you "obviously" can't go to the DR? sounds like a priority check is in line...

DO NOT TAKE LEG PAIN LIGHTLY!!! I had a slight ache in my left lower leg, almost didnt even mention it to the doc and when i did she immediatly did and ultrasound and found a blood clot and i was in the hosptial for 5 days then on coumadin for 6 months....i know the visit and the tests and things can be expensive, but think about it this way. If there is something wrong the sooner you take care of it the cheaper it will be. hopefully it will be minor and wont require to be in teh hospital you could just take some meds...those other women below me seem to be a bit mean and rude, you should get it checked out....go to a county ER or somewhere like a free clinic if you dont have the money or borrow it or something. Your health should be your number one priority!!!

There are fee clinics in your area. Go on line and find one. Stop being sad and upset and do something positive that will relieve your anxiety and questions.

You live in California, get on medi-cal. Eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly, stay busy and you might not be so self absorbed and little things wont bother you as much.

What kind of pain?? Is if more of urges to move that is painful? If so I'd say it's restless leg syndrom. I have it and I get it when I'm overly tired or cramped in a car.
People can see veins all the time. It's not a sign for X disease. I wouldn't worry about that.

IF your legs hurt it could be the way you are exercising..Vericose veins can cause pain. Also if your legs don't let you sleep at night you could have RLS which is treatable..Experience that when I was preggie.
Dont be upset go back to your primary and have her verify nothing serious and go from there.

When you loose weight your veins don't 'shrink', you just don't need them as long as they are because you have less fat to saturate with oxygen. So instead of the average vein length being 2 miles long it's 1.25 miles long.

Leg pain can be from inflammation, nerve pain, etc... I'd call around Dr's offices and walk in clinics to see which have the cheapest prices and who's willing to go down more or do payment plans for those without insurance.

Sadly, in America... this is very common place. What's the point in expensive life changing technology if most people cannot afford to get enough health care to use it?

I am so sorry for the pain and the stress that you are under right now.
I think that you should go to your local health department and apply for medicaid or medicare so that you can get in to see a Dr.
I hope that you are fine and that you will feel better.
I would like to tell you not to worry, but I also worry about everything under the sun.

I am the type of person that has a little pain somewhere and I feel like I am dying. So if that is the kind of person that you are, then I feel your pain.

I will pray for you tonight.
Trust in the Lord.
Take care and God Bless.

Well, i would say to not ignore your pain. Best sinerio is that its not serious, but yet can also be something serious so don't ignore those signs your body is letting u know something is wrong. I know dr's can be expensive but they almost all do payment plans and if u let them know u need to pay cash or something they will give u a cheaper cost like 30-50 bucks.

Get a doctor's appointment. Your health is too important. As others mentioned, there are free clinics available. You have concerns and you need to get the advice of a professional. Be healthy, take care of yourself...you deserve it.
