Rush (The Band, Not the Man!)

My husband is a die hard fan, me, nope. I think it's a band that you either are obsessed with them or could care less. My husband called me O. day to ask me if paying $500 for O. ticket was too much......I just started laughing and told him he could meet me at the Coach handbag store and we'd talk:)

Nope also a 70/80's child it is not just you I hate Rush (the band and the man) My husband and son think I am crazy they are "O. of the greatest bands of all time!". Anything Rush is like fingernails on a chalkboard.

meh. They ain't my cup of tea either....

now, you want to talk about Bread, The Carpenters, Kansas, Mammas and the Pappas....(j/k)

Do not like Rush. Unique vocal quality, perhaps I can give them that.

Overall, however, I think this band is way, way over-rated.

ETA: J.B., the same thing is happening with me!!! Ugh! Can't get Tom Sawyer out of my head now!
Maybe I can go find a Barney CD to block it out!

Yes, it's just you. They are wonderful. Hahahahahaha, seriously though, I really liked them way back when and think their music is amazing. Now, however, I prefer to listen to a different type of music.

O. of fellow friends in the Occupation told me today they asked Rush(the person)to stop using their music on his show.....I had to ask him who they were...And I considered myself fairly informed in the music department!

Ha ha....I guess I can not hate them...Because I truly have no idea what their music sounds like...I know once I heard something by them I would go...''Oh ya I know them''..but nothing still has come to mind:)

I gotta say though that my musical taste runs the gamut and I've gotten some very funny looks from people who come to my door when I have my cd player on random LOL It holds 60 cd's and it has everything from Pavoratti to Slipknot (super heavy metal) to Neil Diamond to Abba to The Humpty Dance (seriously what's not to love about that song?) in it :) And ya never know which song is gonna be next :)

I loooooove Rush and I've seen them live several times (but then, I also like ELP and early Genesis, also progressive rockers). It's an absolute shame that they haven't been inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of fame. I recall that RollingStone FINALLY did a write-up of Rush several years ago. When I was reading the next month's readers' comments, someone wrote in and said, "Thanks for finally writing about Rush. But what the F took you so long?"

Added: BTW, on March 6 the band as the man (Limbaugh) to stop playing their music on this show.

Oh I do love me some Getty Lee - but they are not my all time favorite band - that distinction falls to Phish. :-)

I love Rush for the political and social commentary in their lyrics. I cannot stand Jimmy Buffet.

I do like Rush. I would not go as far as professing my love for them.

Maybe they are your Jimmy Buffet. I have a philosophy that there are two camps of people in life. You either love or hate Jimmy Buffet. I am president of the hate 'em "fan" club.

Omg I CAN'T STAND RUSH! I know they had a great drummer and great meaningful lyrics but I can't get over how his voice sounds like a witch. That melody he produces makes me gag!

I think I might punch the next person who tries to compare rush to led zeppelin or super tramp..... Not the same, not even a little.

Just you and maybe some others....but over all it's an opinion isn't it? You can always choose not to listen to them, right?

I have seen Rush in concert several times. They put on a great stage show.

Awww, your post makes me sad. I am a child of the 70s and 80s and back then I was not a huge Rush fan but over the years I have become O.. I love Rush and they are O. of the BEST live bands I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot of incredible bands in concert - Robert Plant & Jimmy Page, Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Rolling Stones, and many more! Rush was my daughter's first concert. Whether you like them or not you have to repect a band that has been rocking for over 30 years and is O. of the top selling bands ever.

LOL I'm so with you. My husband LOVES them. Can't stand them. The terrible singing, stupid and pretentious lyrics...whenever they come on the radio I end up goofing on them so much that he changes the station.

Ugh - now I have that idiotic "Tom Sawyer" song in my head. Please...make it stop...

I hated Rush when I was in high school/college. My husband is a huge Rush fan. I have to say after years of listening to them and O. concert that I actually kind of like them now =0)

LOL. That is too funny. I too am a child of the 70s and 80s. O. of my best friends from HS just loved Rush.

The only time Rush made sense to me was when we were driving around in another's friends giant Suburban totally drunk off our asses on Rum. The 5 of us had drunk the whole bottle and were totally gone. Rush sounded good that night. Talented musicians, but so not my thing.

I don't hate the band, but I don't listen to them, either.

So not a Rush fan. The main DJ of the morning show I listen to is & whenever it's played I just have to switch stations.

I have to ask, what is your point to the question? Why are you in the mood to bash a band that isn't relevant anymore? Who cares if you hate Rush.
