JFF, at work and bored! What are some of your favorite concert experiences? I'd have to say mine was seeing Dave Matthews Band at Red Rocks 8-15-95 - when they recorded the album! I was only 13 years old and it was amazing!

What can I do next?

DROPKICK MURHPYS!!!!!!!!

And not just because the band was rocking... there was one song in particular that had been banned from playing in Richmond... AND THEY SO PLAYED IT!!

The next day, I was selling a crib and mattress to this little old 70 something year old woman. When she came, we were literally yelling at each other about the sale. I apologized and told her I still had ringing in my ears from the concert the night before. She yelled 'ME TOO! WENT AND SAW DROPKICKS'.... oh. my. GOD. That little old lady is my HERO ;)

When I was young and in love with my highschool sweetheart, late 80s, we went to a Cinderalla/Cheap Trick Concert. We sang "I want you to want me" at the top of our lungs to each other. Then when Cinderalla played I think it was "I'm Coming Home." They lowered the guy playing piano and made it look like it was snowing or raining in the auditorium. It was a magical moment. Stayed with me obviously.

I saw Pink Floyd live at Texas Stadium. That was a giant spectacle.

But my favorite ever was a summer outdoor concert "House of Blues, SMokin Grooves Tour" I saw the Fugees, Cypress Hill, Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, and Lenny Kravitz. I was close enought that I could reach out and touch Damian Marley -I love Jr Gong Marley - he's my favorite of all Bobs proginy

I saw The Eagles and Linda Ronstadt in San Diego when I was 21. Me and my best girlfriend went, we had a blast. I've been to about 20 concerts, all with guys other than that one. Hmm.

I love going to concerts! But find that they are so expensive these days, it's almost not worth it!

*I know this makes me old, but I saw Willie Nelson at the Missouri State Fair in the early 80's. I paid $7 and he played for 4 hours!!

Love seeing James Taylor live. Saw James and Carole King together last year which was great.

Billy Joel and Elton John each alone are great, but together they are wonderful.

But a year or so ago, I took my teen daughter and 2 of her friends to see The Black Eyed Peas. One of the best concerts I've ever been to!! I did not sit down the entire time!

Thank you Grandma T for reminding me. I would have loved to have seen Linda Ronstadt in her prime. But did get to see the Eagles in 1994 or 1995 during their Hell Freezes Over tour. They were fabulous.

And I agree with so many who say there are too many to just name one.

Perpetual Groove on Jamcruise several years ago. Since then I've seen them many more times-too many to count! A close second would be Levon Helm (drummer for The Band) at his house in Woodstock. That was pretty amazing! the Flaming Lips are also a ton of fun to see live. Hubby and I used to go to concerts every single weekend year round pre-baby, now it's maybe 3-4 per year! When DD gets a little older we're going to get her some noise cancelling headphones and start taking her with us!

Ohhh, that's a tough one. I've probably gone to 75 concerts in my time; I've been going to concerts since I was 14 and I've kept all the ticket stubs. Here are a couple:

David Byrne (Talking Heads) at the Greek Theatre in LA, 2009

Police w/ the Foo Fighters at Dodger Stadium, 2007

Van Morrison at the Wiltern, 2007?

Guns n Roses at Universal, 1987? (EPIC show!)

Genesis, 1987 & 1989

Eagles, 2005

Next up: Soundgarden this summer!

Gary Alan
Wilco
or
Alison Krauss.
all at the Florida Theatre.

Keith Urban was good, too. But it was a much bigger Arena without the wonderful acoustics afforded by the Florida Theater.

This is hard to choose just one...I have been to many...my top pick would be:

Seeing '4Ways2Fall' at The Knitting Factory, in Spokane, Wa. This is my nephews band and this was a VERY big gig for a bunch of 15 yr olds and they rocked it! It was AMAZING...so VERY proud of our boy that night! *His band has played quite a few gigs but this was the biggest, their were 4 bands on the docket and they were the 3rd to play, right before the headliners which is SWEET! They sold all their tickets and got a good chunk of the door & the bar, which funded some more studio/recording time + some cool merchandise they can sell at their future shows!

Very Proud Auntie!

Okay, my usual response is always Rick Springfield. Can't wait until next month went I get to see him FOUR DAYS in a ROW!

Anyways...I've been to a LOT of shows. I'm a child of the 80s and got to see some really cool bands growing up.Duran Duran, Culture Club, Tears for Fears, Bon Jovi, blah,blah,blah...

I'd say Van Halen/Hagar in 1986 was amazing and so was Rush in 2004. I had front row center and got to do the meet and greet with guitar great Alex Lifeson. That is one of my biggest "brush with greatness moments" right after the dreeeeamy Rick Springfield whom I've met a few times in the last decade.

I actually have 2 favorites.
#1 Bon Jovi - New Jersey Album saw in 1989. This was my very first concert and I was 15.
#2 Judas Priest with Ripper Owens - Demolition Tour. I stood next to Rippers wife so there were security guards all over her. I also got to touch his hand and got his autograph. Awesome concert.

Rolling Stones at PNC Park, Pittsburgh (2003)
Barenaked Ladies with Alanis Morisette at Starlake, Pittsburgh( 2004)
Green Day outside DC last summer. Outdoor concert with lawn seating; we brought our 22-month-old! It was my 4th or 5th time seeing Green Day and my husband's 7th. Daughter's first :-)

We've also been lucky enough to see The Corrs, Rancid (Warped Tour), and free lawn concerts featuring Blues Traveler and Kevin Eubanks. And we were in NYC 2 summers ago and just happened to be in the area when Paul McCartney gave a show on top of the Ed Sullivan Theater!

I have only go to one concert and that was only because I was friend of one the guys on the band (enough famous for the Simpsons to make fun of them, lol) I say was because I haven't see him in soo many years, it was actually weird to see people get so into because for me he was just another guy that we even forget to call sometimes, but here you see people of all ages asking for autographs and make me wonder if I should have appreciate more the friendship, lol.

My first show was Live back in '95 or '96 I think which was really good. I've seen the Dixie Chicks who I wanted to love in concert, but they weren't fantastic. Gwen Stefani was excellent & so was No Doubt when I saw them together. Norah Jones & Bonnie Raitt were amazing in Atlantic City, too. Over the years there have been many, many others, but my best concert is definitely a tie between John Mayer & Maroon 5.

My first was awesome--Opeth in Rochester! However, I LOVED Trans-Siberian Orchestra both times I've seen them. I've seen Opeth twice, too, and would rather listen to them, but I will say that it is nicer to sit down for a show (TSO) than it is to feel glued to the floor while the guy swaying stoned in front of you is crowding back into your chest. :)

(I'm not really a concert-goer but my husband is, mostly metal. I would go back to see Opeth anyday and would love to see Devin Townsend again, especially headlining. I also was really bummed to miss Wovenhand with him, but it's hard with kids.)

It is a tie between....

Alice Cooper at Jimmy's Warehouse in New Orleans.
Literally a converted warehouse with a stage.
Summer time - the crowd was sprayed down with a fire-hose it was so hot.
I was about 15.

AND

TransSiberian Orchestra Christmas performance in the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in 2004 with my son. He was 8 and watching his amazement at the audio and visual delight of the show was just a wonderful moment for me.
=======================

.... how my life has changed in 30 years. LOL

Just saw Lady Gaga a month ago and wow, what an amazing show! Incredible performance and a lot of anti-bullying messages. It was the biggest production concert I've ever been to.

Until then, my tops were Oingo Boingo in the 1980s (saw them six or seven times and every show was awesome) and Duran Duran. Both put on fantastic concerts. Depeche Mode's Music for the Masses tour was another memorable one.
