Romantic Weekends

We aren't big B&B fans either for exactly that reason! Given a weekend alone, we like to stay out late and matbe "make some noise" and I always feel like everyone can hear us or that we're waking people up. We also don't like beung woken up by breakfast preparations!

We like to hike and kayak, shop and go to museums and historical sites followed by nice dinners, lots of wine and maybe some good live music!

B&B's can be creepy. Try a small Inn somewhere which is a little more private that a b&b but more like a hotel. Winery Tours are always fun for us. Sometime my husband and I just get a hotel room for the night, go out for a nice dinner, sleep in and just enjoy each others company without any interruptions.

I would go river rafting with my hubby. It's adventure, it's a physical workout and an adrenaline rush. Something you can't do with young kids.

One of the most romantic and fun things we did was stay home all weekend and sent our kids away.

We went to a very late night movie...made love in every room of our house..slept in..went for a run together late morning...made meals together clothed or not...and strolled around our quaint,revitalized down town and sauntered in and out of shops.

It was such a fun time...and it was very inexpensive. We talk about doing it again which would be great cuz we now live in a new town with soooo many things to choose from to do. I think we'd go hiking,catch a show in San Francisco, and go kayaking around here.

It is so nice that you two take time to do this and make eachother a priority...and don't let the kids and life get in the way of strengthening your relationship.

We dont get away often, but it always depends on the town. Las Vegas, we walked around and just looked at stuff. And went to see a great show. Eureka, on the coast, we love driving around to see the old mansions and historic buildings. St Louis, had to go up in the arch! Go to a local ball game.Sight seeing is fun if you have a tour book ahead of time to tell you whats special about the city. If we went camping, we'd be happy to walk on the beach, or along the lake, and relax in the shade. Doing crossword puzzles, or just reading. Love the bits of quiet time together sometimes. Check out antique shops, specaility shops, local stuff you dont see at home all the time. We arent real adventerous, or sport minded, but usually you can find rental bikes, and scooters. Go play golf, or hiking. I think wine tasting. would be fun and I dont even drink! Go to a spa, get massages together, mud baths. Or just stay in the room, order room service, and do whatever...

museum, movie theater (matinee prices!! yay!) explore the local university, find a concert, try some weird food at an ethnic restaurant, go to the library and read books together, rock climbing, swimming, surfing, scuba diving, music, shopping... but mostly we just love the opportunity to have uninterrupted conversation and time together!!

we had a great experience at a B&B near Rome. It was a big enough house that we didn't feel too weird, and the owners were three floors down from us in seperate quarters. It was soooooo much nicer than a hotel, with a private balcony, library with movies and books and a nice living room, kitchen, and homey decor. and she drove us around town, took us to markets and restaurants, and always provided a nice British spread for breakfast. We got to know the other couple vacationing from Texas and enjoyed getting to know them during our breakfasts. We got to know the real Italy, instead of the tourist sites-- she was out in the country on windy dirt roads where there were cows and laundry on the line. It was like hotel and tourguide combined and the service was beyond amazing. and it was cheaper than a hotel with all this included. so, it could be worth trying!

We like things like hiking or bike-riding and visiting museums, or just walking around town (especially if there are historic buildings) and window shopping. Most B&B's I've stayed in are nice. You could check out bedandbreakfast.com. I find that the larger ones are a bit more comfortable and also the ones who have been in business for a long time. I really enjoyed staying at inns when we were overseas for our honeymoon - they had the best of both worlds, but they aren't as easy to find here. The owners who have been in business a long time or who have a lot of rooms (they're not just renting out one room of their house) seem to know what they are doing and will talk to you if you want to talk and will leave you alone if you seem to want to be alone. It can be weird if you someone who just rents a room or two on the side to make some extra money. Look for someone whose whole business is the B&B and I think you'll be happier.

Bigger B&B's will often have a separate suite for the owner so it's not so much like you're in their house. Some of the nice things about B&B's is that you don't have someone crashing into your room to clean in the middle of the day, great food, little extras like snacks in the afternoon, sometimes a shared kitchen so you can pack a lunch or make a snack, often a comfortable sitting room instead of a lobby, and people who are happy to give you advice about what to do and how to get there or who really have an incentive to fulfill your requests.

We go to a B&B every year for our anniversary we absolutely love it. It really isn't like a house it is more like a hotel/motel. Each room has a hot tub, balcony, year round fireplace, tv/vcr/dvd and cd player, breakfast served to your room each morning (food is sooooo good) no phones, no kids!!!! we became friends with the couple that owns it and they are great people. We try to go a couple times a year at least but I would live there if I could . We live in Michigan it is just few hours away from us up North as we call it and it is so beautiful there. We also like to go to a local drive in where we live but most of the time we just watch things at home that we DVR or on Netflix as long as we are together that is all that counts for us.

We go to a bed & breakfast every year! We research them online and always pick a room with a hottub in it. Make sure you have your own bathroom, and then you only have to come out for the free yummy breakfast. =) We play games, bring alcohol, find a local university or someplace interesting we can walk around, bring books, massage each other, manicures, pedicures, go to a local church, etc. Our anniversary is January 1st, so we also make a list of accomplishments/big memories from the previous year. It's fun to remember!

Some daytime activities I would like are going to the beach, going horseback riding, taking a hike, having a picnic somewhere really nice, going on a scenic bike ride, going rollerblading. Totally depends on where you're going and what's available. Or seeing a great live show or something.
Personally, not into the B&B thing. Unless it's a really classy one and those (at least around me) are super expensive. You can get a super nice 4 star or 5 star hotel room for less money on priceline.
