Refurbished Phones?

Has anyone ever got a refurbished phone? I am due for my upgrade, and if I order online I can either get a refurbished Droid for free, or a new Blackberry. I don't know if a refurbished phone is trustworthy though... I would hate to order it, then have to replace it... but I really REALLY want a Droid! lol. I was just wondering about other people's experiences... (Btw.. My carrier is Verizon, and I do keep insurance on my phones... if that matters. lol) Did you ever get a refurbished or used phone, and have any problems? Or was it just as good as new?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hmm. Thanks mommas! That really sucks, I really wanted that darn Droid, but not if it's going to be giving me issues! lol. Oh well, the blackberry looked pretty cool too... :)

I have never had a refurbished cell phone, but I have bought several refurbished items (power tools, mp3 player, regular phone, etc.) and never had any trouble with any of them. In theory, they fixed the problem, gave it more personal attention and care (double checks) than a non-refurbished phone and most have the same warranty as a new one. I'd read the fine print, though!!

good luck!

I have never gotten a refurbished phone but I have done refurbished computers (Dell) and I will NEVER do that again. It is not worth the aggrevasion to buy a cheap deal.....you will pay with all the things that don't work and the time on the phone with customer ____@____.com something that is insured or you get an upgrade at a later date or something that works to be a better deal futuristically. Plus, do something good for yourself....pamper yourself with a phone you WANT. Mom's never do anything for themselves......just everyone else. My advise is pass on the refurbish model....go for the NEW Blackberry.

Both! I have had refurbished phones as a replacement through the insurance when things went wrong with current phone. The 1st one (replacement) ended up having the same problems as the phone it replaced. The 2nd one was okay. Good Luck!

I got several ones. There was no insurance so when we dropped them, we had to buy another. We had one out of five that did not work right and they shipped a replacement out for free.

I'm with Verizon & if I order or upgrade my phone I can pick from alot of phones fro FREE non refurbished however I can't get myself to buy a data plan on top of the monthly plus texting it just seems like alot of expenses that I really don't need.I would never buy anything that was refurbished something was wrong with it that is why it was fixed then put back on the shelves for a discounted price

I only selected the refurbished phone because i figured it was cheaper and maybe it had all the bugs worked out. It was my bad mistake; it was terrible. Our carrier replaced it 4 times and then the last one finally worked perfectly for the remainder of the contract which was the last 4 months; just in time for another upgrade. Never got refurbished ever again.
