I have started the tedious and long project of taking all of our old photos out of those old magnetic photo albums. I'm putting them all into 3 ring binder slip pages that I'm getting from The Container Store (I'll post a link in the SWH section). I am not planning on making this an elaborate scrap booking project.
In those old albums I kept all sorts of things like ticket stubs or newspaper articles or other things like that. A lot of the time I would just stick them on the page along with the photos from the event .I have no idea what I can do with all the little things. I want to keep them. They are ticket stubs to concerts and movies or badges to conventions and such that my husband and I went to while dating.
Does anyone have any creative yet simple ways to move them off the old magnetic pages and put them into pages that can go in the 3 ring binder? The simplest I can think of is double stick tape them to a sheet of scrap book paper and slip them in a page protector. I can not just scan them because they are on that thermal paper that goes black when exposed to bright light. They're often odd sizes or shapes so I can't just slip them into a slot along with the pictures.
Also, does anyone have any tips on how to get newspaper articles off of magnetic pages? They've lost a lot of their adhesive, a lot of pictures are just slipping right off (one more reason for this project), but some of the little items are stuck pretty good.

I would definitely make copies of the newspaper articles before you take them off the pages because they may rip when you pull them off. The newsprint breaks down over time. There are some scrapbook pages that have pockets that you can use to keep your treasures in and you can put them in your binder. I found some at Hobby Lobby. You might ask at the container store to see if they have those type of pages. Good luck
When I started scrapbooking I got online and searched tons of sights for layout ideas. Almost every webpage has a section of them.
I copied a ton of them. In your case where you don't want to spend a lot of time I would take the picture out of the magnetic book and use scrapbooking glue to adhere the picture to a cardstock sheet that is just slightly larger. It gives the picture a frame look and makes it look cuter and just more interesting.
You can get scrapbooking pens at Hobby Lobby and other places that sell scrapbooking supplies. Then take a contrasting color that is easy to read and write a note about the ticket stub or picture. That makes it more personal. If your writing is hard to read you can simply type a blurb on the computer then cut it out with those cute trim scissors. They are often on sale at those stores too.
I would copy/scan the newspaper article, then, using scissors, cut the
article, plastic protector, and cardboard backing.
You can google instructions on making an envelope out of scrapbook paper for the stuff or I bet they sell clear ones for just that purpose.
The make removal stuff called Undo that will get things off the sticky page.its a liquid that drys quickly.
When doing this, you need to do it in an archival quality manner.
ie: acid free materials. Otherwise, your photos will degrade and get ruined over time. It is about preserving them, properly. And keeping it in a low humidity manner, not getting fingerprints on it, using proper acid free ink/pencils/glues, etc. But ideally, not using ink to label them etc.
Even those "plastic" photo sleeves, can ruin them, if it is not acid free or archival quality.
I took an entire course, on this.
Maybe take a course in archival methods/photo conservation.
Look maybe at your local university.
Because these are old photos, your priority needs to be, about, preserving them properly, storing them properly and in proper albums etc. Not just about the creative display aspects.
