Hello everyone. M. from Mamapedia here.

Just wanted to answer the questions regarding new window being opened when you click on the 'Questions and Answers' tab. The reasons behind this were due to us working to keep site security updated and performance at a good level. Based on your feedback we will work to reset the 'Questions and Answers' tab back to only open one window. Our goal is to keep the community happy and fully protected at all times!

Thanks for your feedback and we are working to reset the tab - might not take affect until tomorrow but we will reset it as soon as possible.

Regards,

M.
CEO - yes, that is really my title but I normally don't like to display it.
Ok, for all of you that have doubt about if this is really me, you can always email ____@____.com too. Yep, real as the day is long. :) We do try and not get into the middle of your great conversations or act like community police unless it is something that impacts the entire community.

What can I do next?

  • Add yourAnswer own comment
  • Ask your own question Add Question
  • Join the Mamapedia community Mamapedia
  • as inappropriate
  • this with your friends

So What Happened?

OK, in response to your questions. Again, you can also email me at ____@____.com no level was there or is there a problem with security - this was a proactive change. We do not wait until a problem happens to make sure the community is always well protected.

2. Have been an long time supporter of Mamapedia and over a year ago joined to drive some improvements - some of which you have started to hear about but some still to come - including an improved search and better content features. Artie is still involved as a board member.

3. We actually use a customer service team that is part internal and part outsourced to Nebraska. Not sure about the broken English, unless that was a while back.

4. We are looking for ways to help balance the community needs with ways to improve overall services. For long time members this might feel like great changes or totally un-necessary tinkering. What would be great is to get more than a few of you to help us understand how to balance the needs of the community and at the same time remain as a place that engages new members. Never an easy balance but one that we would appreciate your feedback on.

5. Site is run by a team of people, some are men (yes) but most are moms and quite a few are actually long time Mamapedia members. Happens the CEO is a man, but honestly not much I can do about that. :)

Much like the community we serve we are a work in progress. So, what do you think is the best way to engage you all in helping to improve and grow Mamapedia? The wisdom and insights are amazing and truly do help many people (both men, women and families)? Open to your suggestions. How about you send them to me via email and I will summarize back out in a survey to get the membership to agree on priorities?

Great to hear. I am wondering though who you are? You say your are "M. from Mamapedia" but how do we know you really are a Mamapedia representative? Please excuse my cynicism and feel free to set me straight.

ETA: Thank you for setting the record straight. How about maybe putting that information in your profile? Like Cheryl O said, lots of misleading people in this world and on this site. Why on earth would you not want to display that your are CEO? It would really help if your profile had information so we knew you were legitimate. Love love love that things are being addressed by a real person by the way. Thanks again!

And Thanks M., for being responsive to this enough to post it here.
So that we all don't have to keep guessing about whether or not you guys "hear" us.

And by the way, what exactly is your job title????
Can you post that in the "SWH?"

Hi M.,
I'd love to understand a few things:

- How does the new tab policy help our community to stay safe or protected? Were we less protected before? How so?

- When did you become the CEO? My understanding is that a man named Artie Wu is the CEO of mamapedia.

- Is your company outsourced? In the past, when I've tried to ask you/your company questions, I've received a template answer. When I followed that up with more questions, I was sent responses in broken English.

- Do you have any plans to improve the quality of this site, and to make it more convenient and user friendly rather than the opposite? For example, a functioning search bar?
_____________

ETA: Thanks for your response M., I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. It clears up a lot and I can see you are invested in the quality of this site.

Hi M.,

Thanks for this. We have seen you before, answering a technical question, just in case the folks here didn't happen to click on your name to see your prior post.

When you wrote before, I emailed mamasupport and asked them specifically, with your link for easy access, if you were "the real deal". They wrote back and verified that you were. That's how I know today that you are who you say you are!

It certainly wasn't hard to verify it!

One question I would ask is why with every single computer I have ever used, whether laptop or desktop, does MP slow my computer down like nothing else ever has. Sigh... When MP started putting ads all over the place, it about killed me! (Figuratively speaking!) My computer still crawls sometimes, even though this one is just a few months old and solid state.

Another question is why so many of us stopped getting emails letting us know that we have a message from another MP mom. It isn't a matter of our settings being set that way - they just stopped when that strange pop-up window showed up about updating email. Mamasupport said not to open it, but then sent an email out (I assume to more than just me) asking to click on a link. No more emails after that! Just recently I started getting a trickle of MP questions showing up (much less than before), but still no alerts of pm's. I have to check my flowers to see any messages.

Long and drawn out, sorry. But thanks for trying to make the site better (and SAFE.) That is very much appreciated.

Dawn

Thanks for joining us here!! It would be great if you or other people from the staff "interacted" on the board.

Like the poster below - how do we REALLY KNOW IT IS THE CEO OF MAMAPEDIA? Sorry - there have been several posts in the past about "working for mamapedia". I don't like to doubt, but unfortunately, I'm jaded by past people.

THANK YOU!!
