Which are the best suburbs in Atlanta, GA to live that have the best schools? Our kids are 9, 6, and 5. My husband works from home, so there is no commute and we could live anywhere. We want a nice, family friendly suburb with great schools. Thanks!
My best friend move to Peachtree City a year and a half ago from the DFW area. I've been to visit her, and it's beautiful! It's very family friendly. I'm not sure about the schools because they're sending their daughter to a Catholic school. Her neighborhood is incredible, though.
my companies headquarters just moved to ATL about a year ago - I've heard many, many people who had to relocate say that johns creek and alpharetta are nice areas with great schools.
Without knowing your budget or other criteria...Marietta/East Cobb, Roswell, Johns Creek. Specific zip codes: 30062, 30075, 30022. I hope that is helpful. You could also look in Decatur, but stick to City of Decatur (30030).
I live in the north east suburbs, so I am only familiar with the north side. The East Cobb schools are excellent (they are north/north-west suburbs). There are also two clusters, North Gwinnett and Peachtree Ridge, in Suwanee/Duluth that are excellent schools (Suwanee is also very family friendly and is often highly rated in best cities to live). Alpharetta and Johns Creek are host to many great schools.
Hmm... what side of Atlanta are you considering, and are you considering just the suburbs of "Atlanta" or the surrounding towns also. The Atlanta sprawl really is quite large. I'm guessing you want to be within 30 minutes of the perimeter? Or not? How far from certain things are you looking to be?
The airport, for example, is actually not even IN Atlanta. It is south west in a suburb.
Is there a particular side of the perimeter you would like to be? North of it, nearer the mountains and TN? South of it, so you don't have to drive through it to travel south (relatives living south of Atlanta, for example)? Frequent visits to the coast?
Can you provide more details about what you are looking for? Atlanta and its surrounding area is really, really, large. There's a reason for the old "tri-county" reference... it really does encompass 3 counties. These days, maybe more.
I moved to Missouri from Georgia. I just wanted to say that I wouldn't move to Atlanta with my family if I were offered twice my income. No way.
