My 4 year old accidentally ran across her present from Santa Clause today. She wanted to see it and I said no she couldn't at the moment...I was wondering if I should buy her something else, maybe a smaller gift that is less expensive that will be from Santa or if I should just put her current present together, it was still in the box but she saw the picture, and keep it as from Santa. She's only four but has a really good memory. I don't want to destroy her belief in Santa at such a young age. I normally buy her a big gift from Santa..so around $60-70 dollars and then I get less expensive gifts that don't cost as much. I 'm on a budget, as I'm sure a lot of us are, so I was wondering about either purchasing another gift or using one of the other gifts I already purchased and put it in place for Santa being the sender. Any suggestions? More than likely I'll use one of the other gifts to be from Santa, but just wanted to get some input.

What can I do next?

My now 20 yr old found EVERYTHING!! Christmas/Valentines/Easter, etc. I live in the country and have to shop in advance. I actually started getting more creative with hiding-like putting it in a suitcase!! lol
It did not seem to effect her. But I do agree with others-your daughter does not know the value-get her something else from Santa.
I used to use different wrapping paper from Santa and write left handed!! I miss that time but so glad it is over now also. But it is not near as much fun watching them open a gift certificate as it is a much wanted toy! So relax and enjoy the time cause it will soon be over!!

I agree that you can use one of the other gifts to be from Santa. At four, she won't think about how much Santa spent vs. you.

My younger sister was (and still is) the biggest snoop when it comes to peeking at her Christmas gifts. When she was little my parents would have to hide her stuff at other relatives houses, because she would always snoop around until she found what she was looking for.

One year she found a "boom box" under my parents bed that was for her. My parents, not knowing she had found the item, put it out for Santa to give. Of course, when she got it that morning, she said something about having seen it under their bed.

My mom quickly came up with the story that Santa hides things at people's houses before Christmas, because there is no way he could carry everything in his sleigh on Christmas night.

My sister believed it, and we went on for more years with her believing in Santa.

I agree with the others. You should have a different gift to be the one from Santa. I don't know how you separate Santa's gift from the others, but Santa always leaves my son's "Santa Gift" (just one) wrapped in silver or gold paper (something totally different from the usual paper) and with a few small ornaments strung onto some ribbon. I find these at places like Big Lots or the Dollar Store. He loves getting the ornaments, which are saved for the following Christmas.
Didn't mean to hijack your question, just wanted to provide an idea for making a gift "stand out", that is inexpensive. :D

I agree with others, have that one be from mom and dad and have something else from Santa, or multiple small things from Santa.

Since she already saw it, I would get her something else from santa. It doesn't have to be as expensive. We always had our kids write a long list in order of what they want from santa. we told them it was up to santa to decide what to give them. that way, if it was tight on money that year, they didn't get the most expensive and it gave us some outs. So get her something else from santa so it doesn't ruin her santa beliefs. Good luck!
