Hello, mommies! I have a third degree tear from childbirth, and now I'm trying to find ways I can sit, while trying to take the pressure off my perineum. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Lying all day is not an option.

What can I do next?

My episiotomy wasn't nearly as bad as a tear (my son was just over 9 lbs) but my Dr advised frequent epsom salt sits bathes, witch hazel, ice packs and walking around (the walking was harder since my hips were still grinding badly for about 2 weeks after birth until my pelvis tightened up again).
You can't lay down all the time but laying down rather than sitting will be easier the first few weeks.

Get the the small gel-packs that are intended for your eyes and freeze them. Then strategically place them where you need them to take the swelling down and lessen the pain. Hope this helps and you feel better soon! Congrats on your baby :)

Do you have a Boppy/nursing pillow? Its larger than a donut pillow and worked for me :)

Perhaps, one of those donut pillows will work...the kind for hemorrhoids?

No real advice. Just time. Donut squishes everything together. Not very helpful. It will get better. Oh and congratulations!

I also had a horrible tear from my daughter, and my neighbor brought over this small pillow that looked like a donut! I didn't have any problem after that! Good luck!
