Pediatrician Practice Recommendations

C.H. asks from Eden Prairie, MN

Hi Moms! we are moving to Eden Prairie in a few weeks from MI, and need to ask for any recommendations for a pediatric practice in the area. We are close to Bloomington and Edina, so we are open to finding a great practice group that we could grow with. My daughter is 19-months old now, and doing wonderfully. Thanks for any input!

So What Happened?

Thank you so much, MN moms! We will be checking both Metropolitan and Southdale pediatric practices to see which will suit us best. I'm overwhelmed with the 31 doctors at the Southdale practice, though... sounds really large and am worried about personal service. But thanks for all your input -- I have participated on Mamasource in MI, and excited that the boards are very active in MN! We'll be closing on the house June 15th and officially moving in June 17th! Hope to meet you as neighbors and friends! Thanks again!

We love Metro Peds. I have been taking my three children their for almost seven years and couldn't imagine taking them any where else. We go to the Shakopee clinic and see Dr. Judy Snook.

We love Edina Pediatrics! I have been taking my kids there since birth and I would recommend this clinic to all. They just moved into a brand new building which is beautiful and really conveniently located. Both the doctors and staff are wonderful.

C.,

I started with Southdale Pediatrics about a year and a half ago and have been very happy. My four children see Dr. Jeff Oseid, but have seen other doctors as he was out with a hip replacement earlier this year. They have an office in Eden Prairie, Edina and Burnsville. Here is their info..

My only complaint is the size of the office. We used to live in Arkansas and Texas and I liked the really small practices. There just aren't options for that in the Twin Cities for Peds or OBs.

Since I had to go with a big office, Southdale was my first choice. They came highly recommended to me by several people. Their doctors and nurses are really good with the kids and the administrative staff is very competant. The waiting area is very clean and comfortable - Burnsville has a giant aquarium that my kids look at every time until they are called in. They are disappointed when it's time to go. I have never been inside the Edina or Eden Prairie offices, but the doctors rotate offices so they will be the same.

Welcome to Minnesota! You picked a great place to live.

Southdale Peds is great. There are a large number of doctors, so if you have a sick child, she will be able to get in to see someone in the practice. I have yet to see a "bad" doctor, they all love children and get along well with parents.
God Bless!

Tim Johanson at Metropolitan Pediatric specialists. He's AWESOME - practices out of Edina location just one day a week but also practices at Shakopee location - worth the trip. I've been with him for 10 years and wouldn't go anywhere else. His name pops up often on these boards as a great doc. Good Luck!

We love Metropolitan Pediatrics (http://metropeds.com/index.html). They have offices in Edina, Shakopee and Burnsville close to where you are moving, GREAT pediatricians late hours and Saturday hours. My daughter has seen Dr. Johansen(http://metropeds.com/johanson.html) who is awesome and Dr. O'laughlin (http://metropeds.com/olaughlin.html)who is wonderful. When she was born we saw a couple of the other Doctors that worked at Metro Peds and they are all exceptional. I wouldn't take my daughter anywhere else!

Welcome to Minnesota! There are lots of us transplants here. (I moved here from California.) We go to see Dr. Bodine at Southdale Pediatrics in Edina. Their office is just off of France Ave., very close to the 494 and France intersection. I think he's great. My son had some serious respiratory issues shortly after we moved here, and Dr. Bodine handled it extremely well. I also know several other moms that go to him and really like him as well. You can find their Web site online. Also, I have a very close friend who moved here from MI 2 years ago. She also lives in Eden Prairie. If you would like, I can see if she's open to letting me give you her email. (She has a 4 year old daughter.) Just send a message to me privately. Good luck!

Hi - I see you got some good responses already but I wanted to throw another one in the mix for you - they are right in EP. Southlake Pediatrics has some great docs and we have been more than happy with them for the last year. We are having another baby in June and we will continue to bring our kids there. They have multiple offices throughout the Twin Cities but we have had great luck with Dr. Anne Skemp at the EP location.

Good luck with your move!
