Hi Moms,
I'm expecting my first baby in the middle of May and my doctor has suggested that I figure out if I want to take my child to a pediatrician or general practioner. I feel confident in my decision to take our baby to a pediatrician but was wondering if anyone else has a recommendation for a local pediatrician and how you interview them. I would prefer someone in the Shakopee area. I currently go to Park Nicollet so it would be convenient if the baby went there as well but I would be happy to take him somewhere else if I liked and felt comfortable with them.
Also, I plan on working part-time and am lucky enough to be able to work partly from home. I will need daycare for 2 to 3 days a week maximum. Any suggestions on daycare in the Shakopee area?

Dr Johanson in shakopee is awesome. We just starting seeing him a year ago but he is great he really listens to you.
Also I do daycare but I am in chaska not too far from shakopee depending on where you are. If you need anymore info let me know.

I also live in shakopee. I have three kids. A boy who is almost 4, a girl who is 2 1/2 and a boy who is 6 month old. We go to Metropolitan Pediatrics. It is in the ajoining building to the hospital. We see Dr. Johanson and Love him!! All of the pediatricians are good there though. The only one that I don't love is Dr. Bob Snook.
When we were about to have our first we set up an apointment to meet with Dr. Johanson to get a feel for the office and for him as a Dr.. All you have to do is just call and explain that you are expecting and that you would like to meet the Dr's.
the other nice thing about this clinic is that it has weekend hours on both saturday and sunday at the other locations in Edina and Burnsville.

If you're willing to travel to Eden Prairie, I take my daughter to All about Children. It's an awesome place! They've always gotten me in the last minute when I've called, even when I called at 4pm once...they saw me the same night!! They have nurses who can answer questions when you call them. All of their pediatricians have children themselves. I also appreciate that they have two different rooms for well children and sick children. If my daughter is there for a checkup, I don't want her catching the bugs others may have there. And when she's sick, I certainly don't want her giving it to other children. It's a really friendly, great place and I choose to drive to Eden Prairie from Shakopee rather than give up the great doctors they have there. Just in case the Shakopee ones don't work for ya.
Dr. Tim Johanson at Metropolitan Pediatrics in Shakopee is AWESOME!!! He has solved so many medical mysteries we have had over the years (I've been with him for 9 now). He listens, takes time with your kids - knows them, talks to them etc. My kids look forward to the Dr. they love him so much!!
Looks like you are getting the same advice, but thought I would share too. We also go to Metropolitan Pediatrics ###-###-####. Our pediatrician is Dr. Johanson, but I love Dr. Judy Schnook as well. Actually all the doctors there are great, but Dr. Johanson and Dr. Judy Schnook are by far the best. I have 3 children ages 7, 5 and 3 and have been going there for 7 years. Good Luck!
Hi! First, congratulations!! What an exciting time for you! We actually just moved from Shakopee to Savage but are keeping our pediatrician. We go to Metropolitan Pediatrics at St Francis.
