Ovulation Kits - Pocatello,ID

I should be ovulating sometime this week and although I didn't think it would be until wednesday or Thursday I took a test this morning because the kit says to start testing a little early. So anyways i took one first thing the morning and it was positive for a LH surge. ( two pink dark lines) Then I took a test again after lunch.....I'm not really sure why. I guess just cause I was surprised to be ovulating already. And this test was negative (the test line was lighter than the control line) So I'm wondering which test is right? My past few periods have been 34 day cycles which puts me at day 18 today in this cycle. Has anyone else had this happen?
I have been charting but only for a few months and I don't always see the dip and the spike. Like in this cycle I have had a few dips the last one on Wednesday that was 96.8. It's been a little higher ever scence. Today it was my normal 97.3.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I took another test today and it was even a stronger positive than the first test I took yesterday so I'm pretty sure I'm ovulating. So thanks for all the input. I guess we'll see in a few weeks if I'm pregnant. :)
UPDATE: I took a test today and I'm pregnant! Guess those kits really do work. :)

I used them when I was trying to get prego this time (3rd baby) and started testing earlier in the month than I thought I would be ovulating and found that I ovulated a week earlier than I expected. We tried that day and the next and I got pregnant the first month. I think the line I showed was light pink. Also read the instructions carefully, they recommend taking the test during certain times of the day and also I think you should wait a certain amount of time since the last time you went to the bathroom. I never had much luck with the BBT, plus that tells you when you have already ovulated and it may be too late to get pregnant.

Yeah the first one was right. Your pee in the morning is more concentrated, so get after it girl...In a few days your temp should be up. Any further questions PM me, I've been studying this stuff for years (TTC for 4 yrs now)
Good luck.

yeah, you definately have to chart if you use those things. They were so expensive and hard to inturpert that I gave up on the them.

perhaps by lunch, you have drank more fluids and hence, the LH hormone has become a bit diluted as compared to the am...
you might want to do it again AFTER you have not had fluids for some time.
additionally, I have read that IF it comes up as a positive even IF the lines are faint that you should have have sex (if trying for a baby) and or AVOID having sex if you are not wishing to become pregnant at this time..
also... ovulation kits are good in that they can give you a better sense of when you "might" ovulate but they are only indicative of an LH surge and NOT a true indication as to whether or not you have in fact ovulated.. in fact if you really want to track your cycles more closely, it's also best to chart your temps each day, this way.. in conjuction with the OPKT , you can really determine IF you are ovulating.
best of luck

I know women who've used basal thermometers with some success.

I almost fainted the day I saw ovulation detectors at the dollar store.
I think you'd have as much luck licking your finger and seeing which way the wind was blowing in that case, but I don't know.

Best wishes!

Have you ever charted your basal body temp? Costs nothing, except the basal thermometer for $10). You can see exact day when you ovulate by the temp spike on your charting. much less frustrating.
