Has anyone stayed at Sunset Jamaica Grande in Ocho Rios area of Jamaica? How is the beach there? Is there good snorkeling? Is it worth going into town? Thanks
We were on a cruise and only visited the island for a few hours. As everyone else said stay at your resort. The cab we were in didn't have a rate calculator and charged us $50 for a short ride. I guess they can do whatever they want on their island! Have a great time!!!
I did not stay there but was at the beach and it was fantastic. Do the falls tour, totally worth it, just be careful leaving the resort in Jamaica, kind of scary. I would only leave the resort with a tour guide.
We went to Sandals resort in Ocho Rios for our honeymoon a few years ago and it was nice. Good beaches and great weather. Definitely do the Falls tour it's a great time. I agree though, I for sure wouldn't leave the resort to go into the city-pretty rough. Most of those resort type islands and vacation areas are though. Have a great trip.
We honeymooned at Sandals Ocho Rios in Dec. 2005 and LOVED IT!!! They upgraded our room 3x to a villa with a semi-private pool (private for us b/c there were 3 other units that were not filled at the time). The beach was great, as were the many pools, swim up bars, and variety of entertainment. Our service was fabulous, and though they say not to tip, we tipped out driver $20 the first night we got to our room, and he brought us champagne and Red Stripe beer whenever we asked for it all week, and always dropped us off from the jitney (taxi) service first. We only left the resort to go to the hut shops across the street with the resort guide, and that's all I'd recommend for safety purposes. The resort had all we needed for the most romantic time away!
