Where to Go for an Anniversary Trip

My husband and I are planning an anniversary trip this fall. We were thinking Cancun--it seems to be very reasonably priced (cheaper than the florida trip we priced out) and they have so many all-inclusive resorts. For anyone who's been there-where did you stay and what were the positives and negatives? Or does anyone else have any good ideas--romantic and relaxing are definates. We don't need much to do, we just want to get away with out the kids:)

What can I do next?

I have stayed at the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach in Cancun, and although it was not an all inclusive, it was amazing. We paid extra for the club level, and it was worth every penny with the perks it included. I would check it out if you want a top notch hotel in Cancun. If you want an all inclusive, the Riu next door looked very nice as well.

Also check out the Sheraton/Westin complex in Port Lucaya on Grand Bahama Island. It was beautiful and you could walk across the street to the main shopping and restaurants. It's right on the beach with some infinity pools.

Hi! We've been to Cancun and stayed at Adventura Palace on the Mayan Riviera twice. It's all adult, all inclusive. The first time it was brand new, small and personal. Went again just 2 years later and it was HUGE and not very personal. It was great, but we were expecting and wanting something smaller. It's a beautiful resort and the value is incredible. So, if you don't mind the "big, we are here with 1000 other people" then it's a good vacation. Otherwise, look for a smaller resort. (Most have the numbers of room listed on the info sheet).

Another vacation idea that we just did for Hubby's 40th birthday is Napa Valley and San Francisco. 5 days away without the kids. We got a great deal through Travelocity (they publish their best deals on Tues/Wed. in newsletters).

Have fun whatever you choose. And Happy Anniversary!

We went to Jamaica once and stayed at a Sandals resort (Ocho Rios). It's an all inclusive resort. It was wonderful! I heard on tv the other day about all the discounts offered right now for stays and $149 airfare, round trip! We climbed Dunns River Falls and went on a jeep tour of the area. Beautiful!

Hi J.,

The hubby and I have been to Cancun like 6 times now. WE LOVE IT! One of the great things about Cancun is you can do as much or as little as you want. I would advise you stay in a hotel on the Ocean side, not the bay side tho. Although they always give you "beach access", it's a pain not to be right on the beach!

Riviara Maya is nice but much more secluded, and there really just isn't as much to see or do.

Out of all the hotels we have stayed at we really like the Riu's the best. I think there are three of them there now. We like the Riu Cancun the best, it is large and attached to the Riu Palace. One of the really good things about the larger hotels is they usually have more choices for resturants. The Riu are all ocean view rooms as well and they have some awesome eternity pools. The Riu Cancun is within walking distance to some of the shopping as well.

A good site to look at the hotels and get a feel for them is actually www.expedia.com. They seem to have more "videos" of the hotels and not just pictures.

What ever you do, stay in at least a four (star or apple) hotel amd you can't go wrong.

Don't forget the fall is Hurricane season so you might want to ask a travel agent (even if you book online) about travel insurance.

Also take a package from MLT or Apple, they will have the direct flights (about 2.5 hours), tansfers to the hotels, and taxes included.

If you have some questions that I might be able to answer for you, feel free to send an email.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

N.
