Nursing Bra Size in Subsequent Pregnancies

Hi there,

I'm nursing my daughter at 13 months now and am thinking about buying more nursing bras since my original ones are wearing out. I'm wondering if I'll be able to wear the same nursing bras in subsequent pregnancies (we'd like to have another within a year or so). I went from a 34 C to a 36 DD when I was nursing. Can I expect to have the same bra size next time I'm nursing? I've read that after nursing, it's hard to predict what my bra size will be (I'm still holding onto all my old bras from prepregnancy just in case I can still use them!) but I'm wondering about future nursing.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

After my second baby I thought my chest was the same size again, however my old nursing bras didn't fit, they were a little too small so apparently my boobs got even bigger! It is very hard to tell what size you will be, I would just buy not too many for now (maybe some cheaper ones)since you want to be comfortable and hang on to everything for later.

Don't know about bra sizes in later pregnancies but what kind of nursing bra will you buy? I really like the Bravado body silk bra. It expands with you. I'm much larger in the morning than I am in the evening & it fits either way.

I held on to several nursing bras that I bought just before my first son was born, but only used once or twice because they were a bit too big. I dug them out to see if they would work this time around, but as soon as I washed them they started to fall apart! One was a Medela bra that was was kind of like a sports bra (they call it the Comfort Bra I think), and the strps and back started to actually shred. The elastic was all messed up on the other one, so just be sure to store them properly when you put them away finally. Mine were sitting in my closet for about 18 mths.

I am not to the nursing stage yet, but I can tell you that during pregnancy #1 I went from a 34 A to a 36 C, then ended up at at 36B after nursing and weaning. I'm at 22 weeks today and I am in a 34 C bra ---go figure.

Just buy 2-3 bras now, keep them, and if it doesn't work out to use them next time, pass them on.

Hello S.,

I think this is different for every woman. I went from a 36C to a 40E and did the same with my second one. So I stayed the same, but some get bigger with the subsequent pregnancies. So, you really won't know until the time comes. I can say I ended up smaller after I was done nursing my second child. I went back down to a 36B.

With my first pregnancy I went from a 34C to a 36D while I was nursing. I nursed for a year, then a few months after I was done I was back in a 34C. I'm now in my second pregnancy and I'm already a 34D, so I can only imagine I'll be even bigger when nursing again. I saved a few of my old nursing bras but I'm not sure I'll be able to wear them! I would say go buy one or two inexpensive ones at Target if you really need new ones, and if you can't wear them next time you won't feel so bad since you didn't spend too much on them!
