Need Ideas for Foster Mom's First Mother's Day

-You could frame a good photo of her and her child. I love getting or giving photos as presents.

-Scrap booking basics.

-Lovely bath scrubs or other sensual goodies.

-A nice journal and a few good pens.

-A good bottle of wine and a trashy fashion magazine.

-A french press for coffee.

-A night out.

-A massage, manicure or pedicure.

Okay, now I'm just listing gifts that *I* would love to get! Try to find her a gift that celebrates *her* as a parent and person, or that would help to pamper her spirit and body.

ETA: I would suggest staying away from phrases that emphasis or define her motherhood as being adoptive. Regardless of the way our child joins our family, we, as mothers, love, nurture and protect our children. To be a Mother, is a daily action. It is a verb. It does not matter if we grew our child in our belly, or in our hearts. Motherhood is the act of love, day in, and day out. That is what we celebrate on Mother's Day. Focus on what makes your friend a Mother. Not on how she is different than other Moms.

You could do something that involves a hand print in paint or something artsy. At 10 months it's really hard for him to create anything but I'm kind of a sucker for seeing their little painted handprint...it's so sweet! You could do it a small piece of fabric or paper and frame it somehow. If you did cloth you could get those rings you use for embroidery and close it in there with his name and date on it. Just go simple!

Maybe a day at a spa? A massage, pedicure/ manicure is always nice ans not too pricey! What mom doesn't want to feel pretty or get a good rub down?

When my son was going to my sister-in-laws while I worked she made me this. It was just a sheet of paper with a poem & his handprint. She framed it for me (you could get a frame at the dollar store). I still have it on my entertainment stand 3 years later. The link at the bottom has a bunch of different version of the poem she put on mine.

i would do plaster of paris hand prints or foot prints or something like that. and paint his name and age. i'd also come up with some verse or saying to celebrate her as his mom. something like, even though you didn't birth me, you are the best mommy ever, or something like that. i know, not good wording, but you get the idea of what i mean.
