What about a spa certificate? You could even do a spa day together. The spa I work at (Tranquility Spa, Naperville) has several packages that are very affordable. If that is not convienent, I am sure there are spas in your area. Your friend is lucky to have someone who appreciates her like you!
Boy thats a hard one, I found that a small trinket, necklace or charm bracelet works well but is the anything in the feild that she uses? Stethascope? She could use it everyday and it was from you and they come in really cool fun colors and designs. Research what she uses or if there is a uniform that she has the wear. As a patient, bright cheery colors or patterns are a little bit of sunshine with all the problems that they may have.

I don't know how religious she is but a medal is always nice. For health care it is St Jude Thaddeus. I don't think anything for work is needed though. If she's in a hospital they have a certain color scrubs. Those are usually supplied by the hospital. I am sure anything from the heart from you she'll love. you give her a bunch of pictures and she works with you to make a dvd, (played to a song in the background) like a photo-show... its beautiful and a great tear-jerker --it would make a really touching gift,,,, or you can get gift certificates from her so your friend can use them to make a special memory of the actual graduation ceremony and pary, and send a copy to friends and relatives. (i got certificates for my friend that just got her bachelorette, and one for her mom, too, which made me think of it! great, unique gift!! everyone LOVED it!!)

red envelope has really cute stuff! or a charm bracelet may be really cute... .i was just at Distinctive Gold Jewelery in Frankfort and saw a new line of charm/link bracelets that has some cute stuff. Maybe find an old photo of you two together, do a scrapbook frame or do a scrapbook frame (saw at Hallmark) for her graduation picture. Good luck!

I got my SIL a necklace that says "Wheresoever you go in life, go with all your heart." They have ones with quotes from famous people and funny ones.
