Need Advice - Fort Worth,TX

My experience with unemployment was that they will start paying from the day you became unemployed even if it is a month or two later (though this was in California). I found that to be very comforting.

Regarding finding a job while pregnant, I feel for you. It's hard to find any job right now. I'd look into work from home jobs. I did "social network management" for a while. I basically updated blogs, twitter accounts and facebook for business purposes for people who either didn't get it or where too busy to do it themselves. Get creative!

I signed up with as many agencies as possible. Go to Careerbuilder.com and post your resume, see if any call you. I had one call me and two I sent my resume to. Within a month of being laid off, I had a job. I had some recent accounting experience and signed up with accounting principals, and they found me a job within a week.

In your condition, I think temping would be great, since you might have a hard time finding anything permanant, or a temp job could turn permanant. (that's what happened to me.) Good luck!!!

I am sorry you are going through that. It does suck. I lost my job after maternity leave about 8 years ago. I was so tired of someone dictating my income that I decided not to go back to work for anyone. Job security is a myth. Thank God we decided to start a home business. Have you and your husband considered that? There are many businesses you just have to do the research.

If you have not considered your own business then you might want to try a receptionist job where you can just sit and answer phones or offer to keep someone's child.

It will get better. Just keep the faith.

That stinks, but things will get better! Our church has a job networking group to help people identify work they will enjoy and find jobs. See if you can find a group like that through a church or other organization. Try to be realistic about what you can make right now as far as taking the hit on what you were making before if you think the job will still be there after you have the baby or if it will help to tide you over for now. Personally, I don't recommend work at home schemes because most of them are multi level marketing (pyramid scheme) deals or they will require a lot of money up front or something. Working at home is great if you have a particular skill or education that you can work from home (medical transcription or something like that). Good luck!
