You might be surprised at the prices and service you get at an independently owned appliance store. I always try to patronize small businesses. We like Maytag.

Sears.

You also have to decide if you want a top-loader or front-loader.

If you go to the Sears website, you can see the different washers AND the reviews of it and the price ranges.

We have a Maytag, from Sears. Top loader.
AND have their maintenance warranty. It is good and we make use of it very well. Money well spent.

The reat thing about Sears is that they have financing possibilities that are so simple to get with a credit card. But the smaller stores are often able to give you great values and close outs. So try both, find one that you like and shop around.

Good luck and have fun!

I agree with D. P. we always try to buy at the smaller stores and we have always had better luck with them if we had a problem. Maybe you and Scarlett should go shopping together. :)

I so want a new one!! But you are way past me in washer age - DH will probably make me wait another ten years. Let us know what you get, maybe I can talk him into it if you get a good deal!

ours was 19 years old, when we moved last summer, I wasn't bringing an old washer/dryer with us. We bough an LG at Sears, 10 year warranty, front loader. I love it, my only issue is not being able to add anything once it starts. Sears also had a 3 year no interest deal which we took advantage of, but will have it paid off this summer.
