Need a New Washer - Do You Love Yours??

I can't believe after only 7 years my Kenmore is about to be tossed out. The transmission is going on it and the repair guy said it would cost more to fix than buy a new one. Annoying! So do you love your washer and recommend it? We are going to start looking soon.

Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

As much as I'd love to save money like that Riley J there's no way I can squeeze in the time to sit at the Laundromat once or twice a week. Good list to start from. I absolutely love my repair company so I'll probably stick with a brand they service - I'll have to look into the Samsung and Centennial. Now to convince the hubby we HAVE to have a matching set LOL.

Maytag Centennial here, too, and we are happy with it. It replaced a Maytag that was so old the daughter of the old owner (we know them) can't remember any other washer.

Our Kenmore also died early. We replaced ours with a Maytag Centennial. Love it! It had great reviews online and has lived up to those reviews. It's energy efficient but a top loader (my preference).

Maytag & I HATE IT. Never again.

For me, Kenmore is my #1. Hope this holds true the next time around!

Appliances used to last so much longer.

Go to Consumer Reports and get ratings. Your local library might have this magazine.

I do not like my HE washing machine. It saves water, but, it smells and i always have to leave the dr open. I have to wipe it down really well every 2 wks.

I have found its less expensive to use the front loader at the laundromat, than my top loader at home.

Which is CRAZY.

But a thing to keep in mind.

It costs me $50-75 a month to use the laundromat.
$10 a month for big bottle water (drinking/cooking/cleaning)

Shower & flush only ... Dropped my water bill by $300. Per month.

Yeah.

High efficiency
Big Load

Because you know they charge more at the matte than it costs them in water & electricity.

So I HATE my washer... With its small load water guzzling awfulness!

I recently had to replace my whirlpool front loader. The main circuit board went out. It was just under 5 years old. From what I have heard from repair men, you should probably avoid whirlpool. We got a Samsung HE top loader and I LOVE it! I have only had it for 6 months so I can't say how long it will last, but I would recommend a top loader HE to a front loader HE.

My washer and dryer were just installed about 2 hours ago. I went for price and bought 2 different brands. GE washer and an Amana dryer.

I am on load 2 and all is well. I got the 3.9 CU FT top load. It was the largest I could find in top load for the store we went to. I was not interested in a front load because I didn't want to do my laundry bent over to transfer from washer to dryer. I also hear too many issues about odors.

Agree on NO to LG. My husband researches everything to death and settled on LG (largely based on Consumer Reports). We initially got the top-rated model and sent it back for another LG model when it wouldn't remove newborn spit up that wasn't pretreated. My kids' white t-shirts always come out with a new stain, and it just doesn't clean very well. The HE machines use less water but the cycle length is nearly an hour for a standard load. I have shirts with holes and thought front loaders were supposed to be more gentle because they don't have an agitator, but a friend said they're tumbled more for this very reason.

I bought the non HE Whirlpool top loader from Costco when mine died last year. It's nothing to get excited over. I believe it cleans my clothes and it's good enough for me.

I did want to comment though that NO appliances seem to last anymore. The salesmen will even tell you that 7 years is the norm. WTH? When did these short life spans become acceptable (and why was I not asked if this is okay because I would have objected! ;-)

The one I had before it was a Kenmore and lasted 16 years. Do I think a new Kenmore would last that long? Nope.

What I regret is not buying the extended warranty on our dishwasher because I believe it has one of the last food ginders and I do not want to part with that.

Do NOT buy an LG. Not only are they expensive, but very few techs are trained on them. And God forbid you need a part...if San Francisco doesn't have it...its shipped from like Japan or Korea and you have to wait WEEKS! NEVER again! We have a new Kenmore set now and love it. Good luck.

OMG I posted a couple of questions recently about washers!

Anyway, so we ended up getting a Maytag Bravos.
LOVE it.
It was per the Consumer Reports reviews of washers, that they did in August of 2012.
The one we got, had good reviews and consumer reviews.
Got it from Sears.
Top loader. I didn't want a front loader.
It is also one of those energy efficient models.
