Kidz Bop is great. We bought my daughter (who is 6) a CD for Christmas and she loves it.

Those are just the first 2 that popped into my head. You could also ask the kids and I bet they can give you a WHOLE list. :O)

We don't do "kid music" in my house. There are a lot of songs from U2, Green Day, Linkin Park, Daughtry, John Mellencamp and Bon Jovi that are classics, have nothing offensive in them and all the kids enjoy. Kernkroft 4000 from Zombie Nation is a dance song that 's been taken over by a lot of NHL teams as their goal song, so that's pretty popular and danceable (and has no lyrics). There are couple of Eminem songs (can't remember which ones) where the clean versions actually have a good message to them. You can download cleaned up versions of many songs on-line.

ETA: all of Adele's songs that have been released to radio are universally popular. My oldest son and his friends all sing along to her songs on the way to hockey games. Really!

Some other current faves that I just remembered:

"Without You" by David Guetta featuring Usher
"My Heart's a Stereo" by Gym Class Heroes featuring Adam Levine

Hi! Trout Fishing in America http://www.troutmusic.com/ Check some of their songs at their site. The kids and you will be happily singing along. My favorite is My Hair Had a Party Last Night. I still sing it to my son (19 tomorrow) sometimes when he wakes up in the morning. Great kid and adult friendly music...

"Bare Naked Ladies" put out a kids CD that is really good.
So did" They might be Giants ."
The Phineas and Ferb soundtracks are great fun.

other than Christian music , there isn't much out there now that doesn't have the things you listed.

Um Beach Boys, Beatles (early stuff) , but in those I don't really know of any that have "positive messages"

ETA : Shane , hun, it's Stevie NICKS . Sorry , huge Stevie fan can't let that one go.

The Kids Bop CD's are today's hits that the kids all know, but altered so that there isn't anything offensive or profain within the lyrics. Kids are singing the songs also.

this is more for younger kids but my kids liked The Laurie Berkner Band and music from Jack's Big Music Show. They have CD's out from that show and also on iTunes. I always liked the music too.
