Well this is really JFF...there are so many similarities in our family, it's crazy! My moms maiden name is Smith, and my married last name is Smith. My moms name is Beth, my brother married a Beth (yes that gives my mom and my SIL the same name!), and my dads sisters middle name is Beth. My husbands name is Jason, but if he were a girl his name would've been Jennifer Leigh. His parents divorced and his dad remarried a woman with a daughter named Jennifer Leigh. And MY middle name is Leigh. My brothers name is Jeremy Scott. My SIL, Jennifer Leigh, married a Jeremy, and her brothers name is Scott. My husband has a brother named Wesley. His cousin married a Wesley, and my SIL (my brothers wife) has a brother named Wesley. My SIL Jennifer Leigh, has a son named Christian. My BIL (husbands brother) married a girl with a son named Christian. I think that's all--quite a bit of similarities, and if you were able to follow, all the similarities happened to be with who married in to the family, or are close relatives. No one was named after anyone to achieve any of this! Are there crazy things like this in your family, such as names, or where people are from?

ETA: I forgot one! My DH's moms name is Cindy and his Dad's sister is named Cindy!

So What Happened?

This is so crazy with the similarities just from your responses! My name is Kristen, and my FIL's nickname is Butch! LOL!
And my moms middle name is Ann :)
These are fun! I love hearing your stories!

There are about 5 different versions of C. in my family. Kristen, Chrissy, etc.

My husband is named Guy. So is his son (my stepson). And so is FIL, grandad, and great grandad. 5 generations of Guy.

We call my husband Butch.

I love the name Chris ! If I had had a boy, I would have named him Christopher. I am either called Kris, Krissy or Kristen. I named my first child Kris____. It's a long name. So, we are both Kris___.

And I probably would have named my second child Kris____, if my husband did not talk me out of it. I was soo tired, I named her the second name I had in mind. No Kris though...

My best friend in college was Kristen, too ! We roomed together and we told everyybody that we had the same name. Kristen was not a popular name back then. We even went as far as telling people that our name ended with a "ten" because we were not "tins." We had so much fun with our name....Yet, most everybody called us "Christine." My friend easily corrected them.

Nope, nothing even close to yours...the closest we come is my husband's first cousin had a boy 3 years after us and named their son the same name as my middle boy...and then my husband and my BFF's husband have the same name.

That's all we got!

My dad's middle name is Gene and my brother's middle name is also Gene; what are the odds that my husband's name would be Gene? (And no, it is NOT short for Eugene.)

A./a variation is a hand-me down name in the family. My great-grandma's name was Anna, my grandma's middle name was Anne, and my name is A.. My double cousin's middle name is A., and my neice's middle name is A.. (But then again, A. is a pretty common middle name but not so much as a first name.)

My name is A. Margaret. A. is a family hand-me-down, and Margaret is the name of one of my great-aunts. My parents also named me after the movie star A.-Margrit, who they really like.

My mom's name is Diane and her nickname is Annie; my grandma used to try to call me Annie, but I wouldn't answer. I reminded her that my mom's nickname was Annie, and if she called me Annie, it became too confusing.

My dad's name is Larry and my great-uncle's name was Lawrence; however, my dad's name is not Lawrence. It's strictly Larry.

Then there are those who are all named starting with the same letter. My mom and her sisters: Donna, Dallas, Darlene, Diane, Dorothy, Dephine (they had one brother, Norris). Or my dad and his siblings: Loren, Lowell, Larry, Lorraine, Lydene.

My daughter Caitlin has a second cousin whose name is Katelynn.

My husband has 20 aunts and uncles between his mom and dad. Of the aunts and uncles, they have the following similar names on each side-Faye, Brenda, Carol, and William. I have a hard time keeping it straight!
My brother's name is Bryan which is the same as my husband. My poor mother never knows who I am talking about.
