My Toddlers Pierced Ears

I got my twins ears pierced when they were 4 months old. It looks adorable and I am so glad I did it. We didn't want to change their earrings the first year because we had heard that if you leave the piercing studs in for over a year it is less likely that they will have a metal allergy. So, now we want to change their earrings. But, the backing on their earrings has twisted so that it's not on straight and we can't get the darn things off! At least they don't pull of easily like they might if they were on straight. I am desperate! Would a wired cutter work? Has anyone else had this issue? How do we get them off? We just want to put in simple, very small gold hoops. Help! I am desperate!

What can I do next?

R.,
I wear my piercing studs off and on all the time. They are proned to twist. I just wiggle them back into the correct position and then pull the back off and change out the earrings. Hope this helps and the twins tolerate their ears being messed with. Good Luck, W. H

Wait until the babies are asleep and put the backs into the right position and then remove them. Part of the problem is they are being traumatized when they can see what is going on.
Good Luck!!!

I also have a daughter and I had her ears peirced when she was 3 months old. The earings that they use are screw on. Very small screws, so the babies can not pull them out and choke on them. So try unscrewing them.

This happened with my daughters as well, either try to twist back in place or use needle nose pliers and just pull off, of course holding the earring at the same time so as not to pull her ear. And it helps to have dad hold her still. Good luck
