Hey ladies. So here's the deal. My Mom and I went through a rough patch in our relationship the last few years. But, since Christmas things have really been going well. She is really trying to make things better with us. We've been having a great time together the last few months. I LOVE being with my Mom and my daughter is loving having her Grammy back. Here's my question- I want to do something for her to show her how much I appreciate how hard she has been working to make our relationship healthy. Any ideas? We don't have much money right now but I want to show my Mom how much I love her and appreciate her.

What can I do next?

Why not just tell her? Face to face? Or write her a letter describing just how much her efforts have meant to you & your family?

In addition to Denise's letter idea (which I love):

- Frame some special pics of her and the kids or all of you.
- Surprise her with a trip with you and the kids. (You can do this on a tight budget if you do your research).
- A Favorite CD? Everyone loves music.
- Have the kids make her something.
- Deliver flowers to her home or work - that is always a nice surprise.

I like what Denise said....just tell her how much you love and appreciate her to her face. Maybe try to spend some time w/her at your house or hers (whatever is most convenient) and tell her how much you love and appreciate her. Then give her a big hug. Sometimes it's the simplest gestures that are the most grand!

I think writing a nice letter with one of those gift book about mothers and daughters is sweet. I'm sure you could get a good deal on the book at one of the Borders that is going out of business.

Do you have any friends with photography skills? If so, I'd suggest getting them to take photos of the two of you. Pick out the best, get it framed and give it to her as a gift.

My mom did that with her sisters and mom some time ago. Her sister has since passed away and the photos are treasured (by all generations).

Homemade heartfelt gifts are the best. Bath salts, bath scrubs, photo collage, cookies made by you and your daughter, invite her to dinner, child art (even though it is made by your daughter, she will know your heart was in it to).

If you did have some extra money to spend, a mother/daughter charm on a necklace or bracelet will be a great gift. I personally love James Avery. They are a bit more pricey but quality is great.
