I love this movie and want to share it with my 6 year old this season, but I don't want to encourage her to question Santa. I actually never encouraged her belief and if asked, I would totally tell her the truth. But I don't wan tto do something tha tmight ruin for her either.
But this is not really a question about telling her about Santa. I am just wondering - do your little kids watch the movie and does it bring on quesitons about Santa being real?
If she's anything like my child, it will make her question Santa. But kids go through that anyways, and it's still a wonderful movie.
I assume you're referring to the original movie; I didn't see the re-make, and I don't know what the differences are.
However, I think she'll enjoy this movie more when she's a little older. What about "The Polar Express" this year? Or "The Snowman" - it's from the 80s and a real charmer!
my answer when kids asks is that santa stops bringing presents when you stop believing in him. they can take that anyway they want. but as soon as im told by said child that year there wont be any gifts under the tree from santa.
I have never let my kids watch this movie for that reason. I knew that they would start to question it when they were really little-and it would be a thought that would never have occured to them otherwise. Now that they are older I will really not let them watch it as they are close to knowing I think and I don't even want it out there for discussion.
My 10 yo granddaughter still isn't sure about Santa. She questions and we give the question back to her by saying some believe in Santa and some don't. What do you believe. So far she's chosen to believe, sort of. lol
As I remember the movie, I suggest that unless she's already wondering this wouldn't push her over the edge into unbelief. Questions can be answered as I stated above.
