Hello, does anyone have a good recipe for Scalloped Potatoes and Ham? I have leftover Ham and company in town visiting and we were thinking of making Scalloped Potatoes and Ham for dinner one night before we head out to to a festival, any suggestions on a good recipe for this? Thank you!

check out this website: Menus4moms its free and they have great recipes. There is one for scalloped potatoes and ham for this week. you have to hunt around on the website until you find "menus for the week of oct. 20-24" but then click on that, then at the bottom of that you'll see "printer friendly version" which has the recipes all listed out. I use this every week, great food, good use of money and leftovers.

I've kind of created my own, it's pretty easy. I slice 4/5 potatoes and then boil them for about 10 minutes to soften them. This makes it so they cook all the way through and aren't crunchy when they come out of the oven. It's also faster - all the other recipes I tried had me cooking the whole thing for almost 2 hours and I still had some potatoes that were raw. Then I make a simple white sauce and add onion and garlic and also grate about 1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese. Then I layer: potatoes, cheese, white sauce, potatoes, cheese, white sauce. I bake it at about 350 for 30 minutes. It's really simple but always a big hit!

Hi K., This will be quick cause we are replacing the kitchen sink today. Peel about 6 to 7 potatoes slice thinly evaporated canned milk is best but if you only have milk that is fine. Put a layer of butter, a layer of ham, a layer of potatoes, a layer of cheese, salt, pepper, spinkle with about 1 1/2 T.. of flour pour over the milk to cover the first layer and just keep on layering that same way until you run out of room in the oven safe dish. I use a large dutch oven. It is nice if you can finish up the top with cheese. Cover it with a lid or with aluminum foil and put it in the oven at about 350 deg. and let it bake until the potatoes are tender I bet over an hour or so. So, start it early. I hope this makes sense to you. The milk and cheese make the liquid to cook it all and the flour is what thickens it. You can stir it a little before it is cooking to mix it a little, but don't stir it after it begins to cook you will ruin it. Sorry no exact recipe just throw it together. It is yummy! K. K.

I have one but don't have any measurments.

Sliced potato's, as much as you feel you need.
About 2 cups sliced cheese, either sharp or cheddar.
Whole milk or cream
Salt, pepper, and a little garlic salt and onion powder.

This is very basic and you can add just about anything to it. Put the potato's in a greased baking dish and add the cheese and seasoning, mix it up a little and add enough cream or milk until it just touch's the top of the potato's. Bake in a 375 oven until tender. It's really simple and classic, I have used it in a pinch many times.

Hi Christine - just came upon your post so it is a little past due. The BEST recipe I have ever found is the traditional recipe from my old Betty crocker cookbook - it would be easy to add ham to. I served these last thanksgiving and everyone loved them. I even got some kudos from my bro-in-law who is a Escoffier-trained chef. If you don't have that cookbook at home, I'll happily send you recipe.

I put the sliced potatoes and ham chunks in a sprayed glass casserole dish, then pour some cream of mush. soup thinned a bit with milk on top, then a layer of shredded cheese, and top it with crunched up potato chips, bake at 375 for about an hour (chips browned). it's a big hit!!

Cornflake Potatoes

Ingredients:
1 Bag Cubed Hash Browns
1 Can Cream Of Mushroom Soup
1 Cup Shredded Sharp Cheese
¼ Can Milk
1 Cup Sour Cream
2 Cups Cornflakes
½ Cube butter
Salt
Pepper

Directions:
Thaw hash browns early in advance. In large bowl mix hash browns, soup, cheese, milk and sour cream. Add salt and pepper to taste. Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes. While that is baking, in a large pan melt butter and mix in cornflakes. Add cornflakes to top of potatoes and bake for another 10 minutes or until cornflakes are golden brown.

I got this recipe years ago from a neighbor, and we love it! I would say adding ham to it or using the cornflake potatoes as a side would be great! Thanks for asking this question. It got me looking through my recipes, and I can't wait to go to the store and start cooking.
