Hi: I am looking for pint and quart size canning jars. Either new or used. I saw one box of 12 quart jars for $8 at my local WalMart. I am hoping to find a better deal. Thank you for any ideas you have. ____@____.com

8 bucks is as good as youre going to get unless you buy wholesale (you need a tax number). Did you check the internet? Also most grocery stores (albertsons, kroger) carry them.

Hey D., I think $8 is a pretty good deal, considering they are brand new and they come with new rings and lids. If you buy used, you may pay less but you'll still have to buy caps and, if the rings are rusty, new rings too.

Plus, if you go to a garage sale or whatever, unless it's very close by you will have to pay gas to get there.

I would say, just go ahead and buy as few jars as you need for now, then always keep an eye out for deals at garage sales.

I would suggest Craigs List, but that place has just become a breeding ground for scam artists. Many people put up legitimate requests or sales, and scamming people try to take advantage. But, you can always try.

LOL . . . I wish you had asked this question about 7 years ago. After my mom died I had a garage sale and in that sale I had hoards of quart and pint-sized jars, lids, seals and the canning pot and rack. My dad had a garden and my mom did lots of canning.

Sorry, I don't have any for you, but I would also check on e-bay if I were you.

Save yourself some time and gas money.....start phoning your local grocers, Dollar stores, etc. to see if they have any. I don't can anymore, but I used to get mine at Krogers and/or Albertsons.

(you can send me some fresh home-grown peaches so I can make peach upside down cake *LOL)

Good luck dear,
