Laundry Problem-dyes Bled

I washed my normal dark load, and for some reason had some problems (don't believe it was the first time I washed anything). Not I have a salmon shirt with black streaks from a pair of jeans, and a dark purple shirt with cream collar that is streaked with purple. After looking online, I've read conflicting things. Wash in hot, wash in cold... Haven't dried either. Tried one washing/soaking in cold, but no difference. Many of the things I am finding seems to be for whites that have been washed with colors, but nothing for colors that are stained. Any tried and true solutions?

What can I do next?

I've had this problem often and I'm sorry to say nothing I've tried works 100%. Prevention is key--the Shout color catcher is the only way to go, really on the front end. Also, wash your dark clothes inside out, jeans especially because dark jeans will bleed time and time again as more of the dye is on the outside.

The only luck I've truly had with this, is Zout and it's not 100%.

Sorry. I hate laundry.

The only things I EVER wash in hot water are bedsheets, whites, and towels. Everything else is warm or cool water. I sort everything as well. I have whites, lights, mediums, darks, jeans, and towels. I've never had a problem with anything bleeding.

Try the Shout color catcher sheets. They're in the laundry aisle with the regular Shout products.

Oxyclean works great. My mom gave me the sleeper I came home from the hospital in and it is white with red trim. When I washed it the red bled all over the white. I mixed the oxyclean powder with some water and dipped a washcloth in the mixture(it tells you the measurments on container) and blotted out the dye. That sleeper was sparkley white now. The red bled on a blue blanket and it took the red out of that also. I still wonder why after 31 years the red bled out......
