we generally used Arm and Hammer liquid laundry detergent.
Now we have a new washer and i'll admit i do'nt know where i put the manual that i didn't read.
The arm and hammer bottle says " Good for all washers including HE" but it doesn't say what amount to use in a HE washer it just has the regular so much for a small load , and up to the top for a full load etc.\
Does anyone have any advice on how much less to use while i finish the 2 huge bottles hubs bought??
Also, do you have a fav HE detergent that you would recommend?

not sure why i feel the need to clarify, but...... there is a marking in the washer dispenser, that says MAX FILL. it's more of an arm that hangs down actually and the amount i would have to use to reach that fill line is a zillion times more than it seems i should use.
AND markings on the HE washer don't do anythign to help me figure out how much regular but possibly he detergent to use.

I like ALL HE and I use less than 2 tablespoons for a large load and less than that for small loads.
I have used Tide Free and Clear. I don't like ALL. We also use Seventh Generation, which works well, IMO. When DH accidentally bought non-HE detergent, I used half of the usual amount for the HE washer and it seemed to be OK. You may need even less. If your clothes come out kind of crunchy, either use less or run an extra rinse or both.
I use the All free and clear pods for my HE. I love how good it cleans the clothes. And you can probably search online for a manual for your washer and download it and save it to your computer. Just google the model #.
There is a line in the dispenser that tells you how much.
Does your compartment for the detergent provide any markings? Mine shows a "max" line for regular, 2x and 3x. It's a good guide, and I usually put less in than it calls for. (Unfortunately I can't find Tide 2x HE anymore. Do they still sell it?)

I have an HE washer.
So, per the Sear's guy, he said ONLY to use a LITTLE amount.
Do NOT, fill the cap of the detergent, to the top nor even half way.
You only need a little.
Otherwise, it will suds up too much and cause build up in the washer.
I only use like a tablespoon of detergent.
2 at most.
Using too much detergent in HE washers causes build up and problems in the system.
The Sear's guy told me that if you use even half a cap full of detergent, that is too much.
I wish I could say that I like Seventh Generation, but I have GUYS in my family (LOL!) and it didn't clean the smell out of my guys' clothes. My husband ended up needing Tide Free and Clear because of a dermatological issue of breaking out, so we use that. And yes, it gets the smell out.
I would use HALF of what you'd use for regular detergent.

I use less than half the amount indicated on the detergent bottle. My father was an appliance repairman and even way back when he said to use half. You could experiment to find the amount that gets your clothes clean. He suggested washing a load without detergent and if you get any sudsing at all you're using too much.
I buy the brand that's on sale.
