I was working for 18 yrs in a large cooperation. I had my daughter and now stay home with her.
She will be turning 3 next year and we could use the extra income.
Does any one have any reccomendations on large companies that offer part time work in a 3-4 day week?
I feel sometimes like I should have not left because the market is so awful for jobs.
I never finished college and get depressed how I am going to find a decent part time job ?
Thanks for any advice/ help

What can I do next?

If your daughter is in preschool or Mother's Day out, many of those places hire moms.

What were you doing, what are your skills? Start with a temp agency.

I'd stay away from MLM's, home parties, sales, etc which require recruitment, investment and selling.

I was laid off last year after the company I had been with went bankrupt. I saw it coming but could not find something else. I met someone who worked from home and introduced me to the company. I checked out the company thoroughly and will say that I love it and what I do now. I enjoy helping others whether it be their health (or their family) or help in saving money or making money. The work is super easy.

I can pretty much second all the other posts. Another option is working at home and building your own business. That is what I am doing now (although I am currently working full time as well). If you want more info, let me know...no obligation.

I third the recommendation of contacting a staffing firm. I work for one and business is really picking up now.

Also, check out Working Mother's list of the best large employers. You may get some ideas there of companies in your area worth investigating.

Good luck!

Start looking on the career boards for part-time positions. You can enter a search field just for part time work on sites like CareerBuilder.com, Monster.com.

I'd also recommend contacting temp/staffing agencies to see what they have available. A lot of companies in my industry have laid off full-time employees but have hired in contract employees.

Unfortunately, the business world is very tough right now. There are many articles on linkedin and Twitter talking about how over-worked employees are, but when people are scared for their jobs, they don't have much of a choice knowing that the job market is really bleak.

Good luck!

Hi H.,

I see you are looking for some flexibility to be able to still bring in extra income and spend time with your daughter. I actually lost my job last February and was looking for any work from home job I could find and there are truly so many scams out there. Let's face it if it were that easy to find a work from home job everyone would be all over it. I happened to stumble upon AmeriplanUSA and the Freedom at home team which is a legitimate company been around since 1992 and am happy to say I really enjoy what I do. I would love to share more with you and if you are interested, you can visit my website: www.freedomathometeam.com/manuelavincent to schedule an interview or call me directly ###-###-#### or ###-###-####
