I was flipping through channels just now and an interviewer asked, "What is the one impression you want to be remembered by?"

So, I'm curious: How do you mommas and poppas want to be rememered? Me? I guess I want to be remembered as a woman who TRIED... I may not be successful at everything, but I tried.....

What can I do next?

At a friend's mom's funeral, she was remembered by her generosity and her kind heart. She was always there when you really needed her. I found myself thinking, "I want people to say that about me." I want people to remember that I was there when they needed me.

Several of my daughter's friends (all grown now) have told me, "When we were kids, your house was where we could always go if we needed a home away from home. We knew we were welcome and safe there." That's all the legacy I need.

I want to be known as someone who had compassion and was thoughtful of others.

I try everyday to find ways to help others and I'm trying to instill that in our children. I feel an immense sense of joy when I see our kids reaching out to brighten someone's day and thinking of other's needs.

I want to be remembered for having a huge heart for everyone and not being judgmental (even though that is extremely hard). I have a disabled child and ever since my child was born and we learned of his diagnosis, he has opened my DH and I to a whole new world. I have compassion for those who are less fortunate than me and teach my children to teach others with respect.
Don't get me wrong, some days I still judge and i try really hard to not to because I never know what that person/family is struggling through.

"She was kind; she was generous; she really cared about us; she was grounded in her faith and truly lived by it." (I'm making it as one sentence so it can be "one impression.")

At the memorial service for my dad, we piled all of the kids in the back of his vintage mint-green Ford pick up. There were a ton- he had two bio kids, one adopted (me), and five step-kids, most of whom have kids of their own. He also had four sisters, so lots of nieces and nephews and grands, plus friends with grandkids. I think of that beautiful sunny day and the back of that truck packed with happy, loving, laughing kids and think that is a great way to be remembered.

For a less abstract answer, I would like to be remembered as someone who tried to make things better.
