JFF - Angel or Star?

What do you top your tree with?

I have the angel that I grew up with and also a star. I prefer the angel, but this year I gave in and let the kids pick the star. Either one works for the meaning of the tree topper for me, but I prefer the angel.

Do you alternate or stick with the same? Or use something different??

What can I do next?

Great responses! I'm glad I'm no the only one who switches them up!! I have never seen a moving angel...we may need to look in to that!

I have a three foot Jack Skeletington , that is in his Santa Suit. It was a Christmas gift from the husband a few years ago.

He is pose-able, so I wrap his arms and legs around the tree top and he just sits there.

Nightmare Before Christmas is more then a movie for me. when I think of the movie I do not see gross dead things done in Clay-mation . It reminds me to stay true to who I am and what I feel on the inside. So seeing Jack a top my tree is only suiting for me, this time of year. Because it is all about being true to who you are, not being anything else.

Before him, we did not use a topper.

Ha. That's funny you should ask b/c I don't technically have a "topper" but I do have both an angel ornament and a star ornament. I put BOTH up at the top of my tree. I guess the angel stands out more though. But I did put both up top this year. Last year? Don't remember. I probably switch it out, although I like the look of the angel better.

Both the angel and the star represent the Christmas story. I use the star because that is what we used when I was a child.

I have an angel that my mom gave to me when I moved out. She had it forever and was saving it for me. Now that my mom has passed away, I couldn't dream of not having her angel on our tree. It's like she is watching over us during the holidays

My family always used a star, and as I have inherited the ornaments, it seems like a natural.

Last year dd insisted on a star, and insisted on making it. Not quite star-like, given that she was four at the time, but full of significance for her.

This year she says she wants the angel. We haven't gotten our tree yet, so we'll have to see.

We have a wonderful angel who "flies" by gently moving her wings back and forth that we have had on our tree for probably 20 years or more...I will be SO sad when she finally quits working!!!
I love to sit quietly at night with only the Christmas Tree lights on and I can hear the soft noise she makes as she moves. Oooooooooh I think it is time to get my Christmas Tree up!!!!

I have TWO stars... They are both sentimental , especially the one my brother, who is now deceased, purchased. When I hang it, I am reminded of how much he loved Christmas lights and while it's a star up there on the tree, I know that he is in fact my Angel ...

I need a new one! My star is too little, and my angel is too big! I hope to run across one of the two that fits my current tree better. I don't care which it is, as long as it looks right!

Non-committal, I know! LOL!

I love the idea of an angel, but have not fallen in love with one yet.

We had a star which spontaneously fell apart last year :( I have not yet replaced it. Since our budget is super tight, if push comes to shove, I'll let the kids make something and use that as our tree topper this year!

Started with an angel (that's we always had when I was growing up, too)... but it never would sit exactly straight... I finally opted for a star, and then it got crushed/bent somehow so I couldn't use it anymore. So I bought another star last year. I'll be opening up the boxes soon, and if this one is messed up, then maybe we'll go back to an angel again...
I had started putting the angel up on the top of the shelf (the top of the cabinet type space) above where the creche goes.... yes, there is an angel with my nativity set, but there was a "host" of angels that were heard on high... not just one, so I figure it's okay if we have 2, lol.

We had a Teddy Bear holding presents for the longest time.

Greg made a star at school 2 years ago and we have that now.

I'd like to find the star my parents had on ours growing up. White and glittery with a light shining from it.

We have a star. I would not mind an angel, but they always seem to be so goofy looking or too babyish or somehow just "off." I would be happy using either, but have never found a decent looking angel.

Funny. My "good" tree has an angel in a lovely dress (the only angel that's not all annoyingly somber or mad looking---weird that it's so hard to find a happy looking angel, to me). My "kid" tree has a multi-colored star. My little kitchen tree has a crawfish dressed in a little cotton dress with angel wings made out of corn husks, and a halo.

Oddly enough we don't have a tree topper so we just use a Santa hat for the top of the tree. It was the kids that came up with this idea. Cracks me up every year they struggle to get to the top of the tree to put that red hat with with fuzzy trim and then position it just so. I'm still laughing. Can't wait to see how they get that hat up there this year.

When I was a kid (back in medieval times), we had a light-up star on our tree. Then we used a glittery ornament that we inherited from my grandmother. Then we went to a more modern treetop ornament that my mama liked better.

When I had a family of my own, we used my grandmother's glittery ornament on top, but my children didn't really like it much. So now there's a star - a wicker-type one, with a mouse in it. That isn't to everyone's taste, but I think it's very cute and I have never seen it anywhere else.

I had an angel that I've used since I've had my own tree, but my son has asked for a star the last two years. It was the first thing he mentioned this year when I started getting ready to decorate, so I got one. I have to admit I like the way the star looks a little better, because it's perfect at every angle (I always struggle with exactly how to face the angel). Our angel is now on a shelf with the candles and actually looks lovely there. Who would've guessed :)

We have a really pretty angel. Even though it doesn't fit quite right, I really like it.

I like it even more because when I got it, it was on clearance. Originally $80 and I snagged the last one for $10.

The past years it has been a star, but this year it's an angel. The only reason for that is because my parents got a new topper and gave us the angel they have had for years...which I love! And we just put it up an hour ago!!!
