Is a Lisence Required for an in Home Childcare

By personally experience... she should not take her kids there. Yes the caregiver has to have a license through whatever county she is in. Also they can shut her down at any given day. They come to her door and tell her she must have a license within so many days or she will get a ticket. Then your friend will have to find a good caregiver in a matter of days.

Plus by having a licensed caregiver it's only makes sense. You know they have taken safety classes and they have not a childproof home. Also, they have been a criminal of any sort.

The only person likely to get in trouble with the state is the woman doing the childcare--not your friend who is the customer.

A person could watch up to 4 children without being licensed by law. The customer will not get introuble by the state.

The Stateof Texas requires that any person watching more than 4 children be registered with the State. A childcare provider may have up to 3 children and be listed by the State. Your friend will not get in trouble, but the daycare provider could if she were turned into the State. The State inspects registered homes yearly to assure they are complying with the State Minimum Standards for childcare. If your friend is looking for a registered home I have 2 openings for 18 months and younger.
