Injury down There (TMI!)

This is very adult and very TMI! If you don't want to hear about it don't read it and don't comment!

My fiance and I got a new bedroom toy for me. We tried it out last night and it either scraped me (there was a seam in the plastic) OR it electrocuted me. Fiance said he felt a lil spark but feels more confident it scraped me, but looking at the device after the fact it could have easily shocked me.

It hurt immediately so we stopped and did not continue. I examined myself and I have a kind of "ridge" or tear of skin on the inside which has never been there before. It's hurting now (the next day) And I'm really worried. I've never had this kind of injury before so I have no idea if I can or how I would go about taking care of it.

I already have a gyno appointment scheduled in two weeks but should I bump it up? Fiance says I shouldn't worry, it's going to hurt. He says I shouldn't freak out unless it hurts for a few weeks but... I'm just scared I really did some damage!

Further details but super TMI:

The ridge/tear is at the front of my gspot. I felt the pain travel into my urethra as well which makes me wonder if it wasn't a shock...

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

It's localized pain. I think I'll wait a few days and see if the pain diminishes at all and keep checking the injury itself without hopefully irritating it... Fiance is supportive but he KNOWS me very well. I freak out about little medical things. :) I've been to lots of dr.s for real problems, of course, but we always joke about how I"m sick with this, that, and the other thing and will see the doctor every week. He's concerned too but doesn't want me to worry. Thinks it will heal on its own and I hope so.

In reply to the fact that I was dry: Nope! That certainly is never a problem for me....

I'm feeling better today so unless it starts hurting more I'll keep my appt as usual. Thanks everyone!

You will probably be fine, but you might want to get a dr.'s advice - if possible call the gynecologist and ask if it is something you need to be seen for. I wish you a speedy recovery!

I'm not sure what to tell you in the way of the injury other than to make sure you're wiping properly to keep an infection from starting. If it keeps hurting, move up your gyno appt.

As far as your fiance, ask him how he would feel if he got even just a paper cut on his nuts. Then ask him how he'd feel if you told him not to worry about it that it's going to hurt and to quit freaking out. Then tell him to show you more support.

I offer this up as reason number one, don't buy cheap toys! Inspect them properly to make sure they should have passed quality control.

It should heal, think about what the poor thing goes through when you have kids. Just make sure you don't get an infection but I don't think that is likely.

Okay I am assuming this is just a little plastic ridge like you would find on the two halves of a flamingo lawn ornament? Something that would hurt but couldn't possibly cut you deep enough to need stitches?

STOP touching the area. Your vagina has amazing self healing powers (you know babies come through there, yeah?)... don't stick anything in there, don't take a bath, don't douche in the meantime, until your gyno sees you. Note any strange odor or discharge you have; if you get a fever, hit the ER, ASAP.

Hope your kitten feels better soon ;)

If it hurts when you urinate, I'd see a Dr. If not, I would wait and it likely will heal on its own. Try not to "check" too often (that's what I'd be doing, I'm afraid) as that could just irritate it more.

And, complain to the manufacturer!

Ouch

I'm sure it will heal like another injury, keep it away from irritants and tampons till you see the doc

Yeah...I would have already seen the Dr. by now! Seriously, you could need stitches or something.

I think next time you should really inspect the "toys" you buy, before you attempt to use them. This was obviously an unsafe item! Contact the company and make sure they know.

Any other symptoms than localized pain. Urinating OK and without pain?
If localized pain is the only symptom, I suggest that it will just take time for it to heal. Your vagina is sterile and self-cleaning.

You could, however, call the doctor's office and ask for your own peace of mind.

It sounds to me like you were dry and need lube. Older women have trouble with this at times and a little lube is all that takes. I would use some bactracine on it until it heals. I wouldn't worry about bumping the appointment up unless it starts looking inflamed. I don't think you can get electracuted with battery powered toys. If the batter leaked, you could get burned by the acid but it doesn't seem likely.

What? You're even considering waiting 2 weeks? You should have gone to the ER last night. You may need a surgical procedure.

Wherever you purchased this toy, take it back and TELL them what happened. They need to get it off their shelves before they have a lawsuit on their hands. If you bought it on the internet, never do that again. There are reputable places to purchase this stuff where they sell safe merchandise.

And get to the doctor immediately.

Whew!

You've received plenty of advice on the medical part, and one person said what I wanted to. I went to a Smitten Kitten party a couple years ago. I had never given much thought to the plastic in vibrators, etc. (Never used one anyway.) Smitten Kitten only makes products with safe plastics. They're more expensive, but it's worth it for the exact reason you've experienced. And, your reproductive organs are so important to not expose to toxins, etc. Check them out & order from them in the future:

(Just in case there was any doubt--I don't work for the company. I just feel strongly in their philosophy.)
Hope it all works out.

Ouch! I was going to say to wait a few days to see if it got better (amazing how the 'ol hoo-ha heals quickly!) -but when you said you could feel it in your urethra -ugh! I would have it looked at just to be sure nothing is truly wrong. Be careful -and beware the seams! Don't use one with anything like that on it!
