I was wondering if anyone knew of a place I could call to get some help with my electric bill. My electric was turned off this morning and I am not sure what to do about this. I am getting my paycheck at the end of this month but it all goes towards rent. So I will not be able to use it to turn on my electricity. Are there any places that can help me? Thank you so much.

Also, can anyone tell me how long the milk in my fridge will last without power/ I use it for my daughter and I do not want to give it to her if it's bad.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I just wanted to add how nice it is to be able to have a place to go and ask questions. This has to be the most humiliating post I have ever written on here. I went back and read it to myself and just cried. Never in a million years would I have ever imagined having to ask a question like this. So thanks in advance. Hopefully a request like this won't cause anyone to judge me.

Try checking with a local churches to see if they can assist. Most have funds set aside to help people in the community that are in need. Have you checked into getting help from the state? I'm not originally from Texas so I don't know about the programs here but I think they have some sort of "temporary assistance" program. God Bless & we will definitely keep you in our prayers.

Also, don't worry about people judging you. We have all been through hard times (I remember times of eating nothing but potatoes & Ramen) & it makes us stronger and better able to help others. Keep your chin up sweetie.

I would call the electric company and ask them if they have programs that can assist you. If not, maybe they can point you in the right direction on who to contact for help. I have heard of companies allowing an extension period, not sure of how long, but it would be at least worth calling and asking. I wish you the best of luck.
