I asked some people round here...some techy people, but no one seems to know. I have an iphone. My daughter is getting a (smart) phone...I don't want to buy her an iphone, but i want her to have access to all of the music I have on itunes. If she doesnt get a iphone can you have the itunes app on her phone, or is there and (uncomplicated) way to get the music she wants to her phone?

*added I got a deal on a hand-me-down iphone for her the first time. She lost it. I need to be connected to her... her punishment is helping pay for a new phone, but I'm not buying her another iphone...not to mention OMG I didn't realize how expensive even the OLD ones are. I've been looking online for used ones...$250-$300. She's getting a much cheaper phone this time.

LOL Jo ihell...giggle...
thanks that helps

Short answer: No. If she doesn't have an Apple device, she can't access your iTunes.

Why don't you want to get her an iphone? An iphone 3gs is free these days.

No, only an iWhatever will play iTunes. Most of the music on iTunes cannot be converted to MP3 easily. In other words you would have to burn them and rip them to a program that supports MP3s.

Now if you bought the music from places other than iHell they can be added to any smartphone but not through the iTunes interface.

You can convert the music to MP3's and transfer them that way.

You should be able to download your music to your computer and then should be able to down load to the phones memory card. It's very possible. If you have someone that knows what they are doing. My son had to do it on mine.

Hi! I don't know if this is helpful, but my mom just upgraded her iPhone and she's trying to sell her iphone 3GS for $75. Did you decide what smart phone you're getting your daughter? If you want to buy hers, we'll ship it to you and you won't have the itunes problem. :)

We got our son a refurbished 3G for $10. It's like new! Just call your phone provider.
