Ideas for Father's Day

My husband and I were just married in January. My daughter, who is 5, and my husband both have accepted each other with open arms since day one. She calls him daddy and loves him just the same. We recently found out that he will soon have an opportunity to adopt her. I want to make this Father's Day special for him because it would be his first and I couldn't ask for a better man to raise our daughter. How can I make it a Father's Day he will never forget?

What can I do next?

Kids love to bake and most men love sweets- I use to go get cookie dough and brownie mixe and make a little goodie basket. we would get a container- either a cute little bag or a bucket- we would put a few cookies or a browine or two in a bag and tie curly ribbion around it. Also if he reads making a bookmark is great too with her picture on it. Putting her photo on a bookmark, coffie cup etc works great too= you can get a do it yourself kit or you can order something like that from walmart.com but you better order it soon, it takes about 10 days to get things back. You can use clear baggies and tie at the top and cut of the excess or you can get those cute little party bags at dollar tree or party city. If you want may want to get him a gift for yourself thanking him for being such a wonderful dad.

Whatever you do, what will mean the most to him is something your daughter MAKES for him. Do whatever else you want, but make sure she colors or creates a card or something. I suggest also (if you have some)making a photo book full of pictures of your daughter and him together. Snapfish.com usually does a good job, but I know places like Best Buy also do them.

What about spelling out DADDY with those cardboard or wooden letters from the craft stores. Make it a fun project for you and your daughter. Paint the letters any way you would like and then take her picture with each letter or with all of them together. Frame the picture(s). It's a relatively inexpensive gift that will last a lifetime.

What about having their (or family) portraits taken together? Check out Jonnye Bower. She is FANTASTIC! She did some photos of my kids that turned out amazing! I cherish them!

Here is her site address: www.jbowerphoto.com.
