Hello,

My fiance Jovelyn and I have traveled many thousands of miles and endured considerable hardships to get where we are now. The journey has taken more than a year and it is not over yet. Jovelyn is from provincal island of Leyte, Philippines. She is a pure woman, not yet accustomed to American ways. Jovy is the woman of my dreams and she is finally here in Houston. According to the immigration laws of the United States, we have 90 days to become husband and wife. Our wedding date is set, September 15th. Only problem, who can we get to perform the ceremony in such short time? If anyone knows a church or a preacher that will come to our house please reply.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

All the responses to my ad were great. Many suggested a justice of the peace but all the ones I called were booked up or would be out of town that day. Michelle sent a link to the Gathering Guide site. I emailed almost all the services listed under weddings and received lots of replies. We both liked the reply from Linda Rogers so she will be the one. After what you ladies did for me I feel obliged to the fair sex. It will be a simple backyard wedding. For the big wedding in the future, that will probably be in the Philippines. Thanks for all your help!!

Go to Justice of the Peace first and take your time planning a wedding. If she is Catholic and insists on a priest, then you'll need this extra time for an annulment if you don't already have one.

Some preachers will not marry a couple unless they are a member of their church where others will. I don't know of a preacher or a church that would do this, so you would basically need to call around and speak to one directly. Normally a preacher will want to meet with you both before he/she decides to perform the ceremony. If you are having trouble locating one, try the Justice Of The Peace. A Judge would have no problems with going to your home to perform the ceremony.

It is more than possible, I planned my wedding in only 1 week, unfortunately I could not find the phone number but I found this link and I am sure you can find someone to marry you. Good luck and congratulations!

If you can't find a preacher in time, then you can always go to the courthouse. You first go to do fill out some paper work, then 3 days later you can go back and get married.

FOr immigration purposes and by law, Marriage by the JOP is acceptable for a "super quick" marriage. Then, you can take
your time and plan your wedding so that your new wife will be able
to introduce her customs into your ceremony. This way she can plan her wedding the way she wants it and your duties to the government will be taken care of, also.

First thing is you need to join a local church near your home after being there for about a month ask that preacher there to marry you. I dont think there is a preacher out there who will marry you onless you are a member. Or lyou can go the the justice of peace, They will marry you tomorrow. I hope this help.
