i just bought a new-to-me car....
everytime i open the door whether the keys are in it or not the stupid thing kept beeping at me and i couldnt figure out why so i just figured that it was some alarm to let me know the door was open??? lol
no...no....no....no....apparently that means that the headlights are on and since they've been on for like 2 weeks now the battery was finally dead this morning....i've always had auto lights so i never ever thought of it....
i just had to call AAA so they could come jump it and im dreading this guy coming here and me having to explain that ive left the headlights on for 2 weeks because i should really know better....
usually when they come its to get my keys out of my car haha

anyone else have embarassing stories with a similar incident?

although i didnt know what the dingy beep meant i didnt see the lights on but i had moved it nto the street practically half in the woods in day light so i didnt see if the lights were on didnt think to look haha....we had a birthday party here last night and i thought id be considerate and let guests park in the driveway ...pshhh

and oh yes we once had half the people on my street trying to get my sisters doors open becuase she had locked her keys in her car with her son who was about one....he was sleeping but there was all these people with different tools tryin to get the door open it was hilarious so no your not the only one who locks their baby in the car

What can I do next?

Don't feel stupid, we all do things like this! One morning I locked my keys in the car with it running and didn't realize it until I came out of school EIGHT HOURS later. It's a wonder it didn't run out of gas.

I locked my keys in my car, car running and my 1 year old in the backseat. He was just smiling and waving at mommy while I frantically tried to get him to unlock the door - yes, I realize that was a lost cause as a 1 year old has no idea what my frantic motions and pointing mean, but what can I say, I was desperate. And of course, I am crying in the middle of the parking lot and my son is just laughing away.

The man who came to help me unlock the car told me not to feel so stupid, other moms have done it. So, that is what I will tell you. My story is not necessarily similar to yours, but way more stupid than yours. Feel better? =)

Lmao! Im sorry girl! I moved the sun visor to the side to block the sun and didn't move it back and when I tried to get out of the car I hit it so hard with my stupid head it broke off and fell with a loud thump and knocked me back in the car. I just knew I had cur my head but iw was just red. Ummm yep when we all got back in the car a few days later explaining why it wasnt there anymore to my husband wasn't fun. But I haven't ever ran out of gas :)

We went camping this weekend and hubby was playing the disk player in the car for so long that the music stopped cuz the battery went dead. The bad part about is that we did the same thing a few weeks ago. Had to get jumped both times. He's not blonde, he's gray :)
AND, I told him both times that the battery was gonna go dead, but he didnt believe me.

I too have locked my keys in the car, with the engine running, and with my baby asleep in the back seat. I am just glad that the car was running with the a/c on. It was a hot day, so it allowed us to wait for AAA instead of busting out the window.

Everyone has done something foolish in terms of running a battery down or locking the keys in. I locked my keys in last spring as my son and I were about to go in the house. It was cold. I wasn't sure if I was going to break out my car window, or break into my house, cause I was not going to have my little boy sitting out in the cold with me waiting for the tow truck. Luckily my brother came and took my son to Grandma's while I waited for the tow truck. When the tow truck arrived, he told me its pretty typical, what's annoying for them are the people who take advantage of the AAA/roadside assistance programs. The woman he had just been helping had called for the 5th time in a couple of months for the same thing:running out of gas. This tow truck brought her 1 gallon to make it to the next station. She was furious because the last truck (she said) brought her 5 gallons, and apparently was using the service to avoid buying gas at the station. It's not like you were using the AAA over and over to jump an old battery you wouldn't replace, it just ran low. That what its for. No worries!

My first car was a '65 Mustang (I'm 36) - no ding-ding to remind me that I left my lights on. I don't know how many times I had to leave a class in high school to turn my lights off.
I am infamous for leaving my interior light on. To the point where my neighbors have had to call or text to remind me. The battery has died once because of that (but I didn't admit that to my husband, so, shhhh!)

Oh, yeah. Lots of times I've felt like an idiot!

Once, I was in a hurry because we were running late for an appointment. I went out, opened the car door, told my kids to get in......realized I forgot something in the house, ran back to the house........realized the door was locked, ran back to the car to get my purse.......rummaged through purse, couldn't find the keys, searched the car high and low, under seats, everything....even the glove box! Now tell me, WHY would I think I would come out to the car and put the keys in the glove box?!.....couldn't find the keys......called my husband on the cell and told him he'd have to come home to let me in the house because I'd locked the door and the keys were still inside.......my husband turned around when he was almost all the way to work, came back, opened the house door for me.........I looked all over the house for the damn keys, couldn't find them......went back out to the car, searched my purse AGAIN, searched the car AGAIN, couldn't find them......angrily slammed the car door (which had been open this whole time) shut.........found my keys still hanging in the car door lock!

And yes, I missed my appointment. And I bribed my children to NOT tell Daddy where I had finally found my keys! (I let him think they were in the house somewhere!) It cost me doughnuts that morning and milkshakes in the afternoon!!

Back in the dark ages, there was a switch on they floor board to dim or brighten lights. Once when driving a rental car when I turned on the lights, they were on bright. I kept feeling around with my foot and could not find the switch.I was on a two lane highway and couldn't find a place to pull over for quite a while. Other drivers coming towards me were understandably irritated! Finally I could pull over. I pulled out the floor mat and still could not find that switch. After getting to my destination, I was educated on the fact that it had been moved to the steering column.
