How You Know That Something Is Officially Yours

Got a new phone two days ago and it has been officially christened, which of course means my daughter peed on it. You know something in this house has been made officially ours by : The before mentioned peed on, chewed on by the dogs, stepped on or dropped thereby leaving damage to by either dog or child, or washed by accident in husbands pants. How about you guys? What's your, "Yep now it's broken in." thing?

Had it in my pocket and she was sitting next to me. She rarely has an accident, so of course the one time she does is the one time I actually have my cell on me. :/

What can I do next?

Once an item of my clothing has a stain (which - btw - my husband pointed out to my yesterday on my new beige tank top - had worn it once before!!!) it officially belongs in my family. lol

I just bought a rug from Pier 1 that was marked down to $49 - it's a really nice wool rug but had been a floor model - so it had some spots. Didn't bother me - I said "great - now I don't have to wait for the kids/dog to destroy it - it's my house ready". :-)

It's an awesome rug and you can't see the little imperfections at all...but it still made me smile.

the 1st time i drop a phone, i know it's mine. the 1st time my kids spill crumbs all over the backseat, i know it's mine.
it's sad, when i was single, we would christen things by having sex in them or on them, now it's all about the kids tearing it up.

Hi J.-

My kids are older...so I generally know it's mine...when it has gone missing! lol
Shoes...scarves...jewelry...a quick look in my girls' rooms tell me that the item now 'belongs'....to ALL of us!

We got new furniture when we moved to Florida (our old sectional was too big). I told my hubby I just want at least a week to enjoy the newness, before he or the kids spilled something.

I just have to ask...how in the world did your daughter pee on a phone?

If it's broken it's ours. lol

I know what you mean!

With me, oddly enough, I almost welcome the first small scratch or ding on a new (or new to me) car. It feels like "the pressure is off." (Drives my husband, who is a FREAK about vehicles, CRAZY!

And here's nothing like that first, battery flinging, DROP of a cell phone.

I can agree w/that.. I bought a new car as in brand new. Only a month after owning it my son puked all over the back seat. Then I had a spilled/stinky milk incident. Now there are scratches at the back of the car where I've hit it putting my Bob Stroller inside the trunk. Yep, it's my new car now.

well mine is silly but still here goes...
took me 3 years to choose the perfect bedding for my bedroom (and i searched and searched and searched).I wanted gold color with red (but rusty red not red red), and great feel, and pattern that could be feminine but not too much etc. so 3 years yep. got it in july. well
2 weeks later i dyed my hair (red as usual) and totally forgot about what a mess red color can do. yes, the color got on my pillow cases. and it just ruined it for me. i had this bedding ordered (never goes on sale) and now iw as going to spend another 100 bucks for new pillow cases. i didn't for the time being. the whole loving feel towards my bedding was ruined. until i googled my question and found out putting rubbing alcohol over the spots of red and washing it will get rid of it. tried and and it worked!!!!! i know, silly
