I was hoping to get some information for my mother. She had a complete hysterectomy 10 years ago; and began hormone therapy by presecription. Within the last 2 yrs - she stopped taking hormone replacements and tried natural remendies. She is worried the synthetic hormones are not good for her. Take it from me - it's not working; shecan not handle this on her own! She keeps mentioning bioidential hormone replacement or finding an alternative/homeopathic doctor that speacializes in this. We live in the Odessa/Tampa area - if anyone out there has any recommendations

Good Morning S.,

i have the perfect Dr for your mom. His name is Jeremy McConnell he is at Patients First Family Medicine. He is the most wonderful Dr i have ever had, very caring and refuses to prescribe synthetic horomones for anyone. i also reccommend a book for your mom (Dr McConnell reccommended it to me). it is called awakening athena (kind of hard to find, i bought my copy at Westchase Compounding Pharmacy on Country Way Blvd.) Dr McConnell and the pharmacy are both in the same plaza. Dr McConnell's phone number is ###-###-####, there are two Dr's and an ARNP in the practice but i highly reccommend your mom to see Dr McConnell, i guarantee you he will take care of her. please email me if you have any questions ____@____.com (he put me on horomone replacement therapy, the funny thing is i thought i was depressed, after i told him all the feelings i was having he said he was positive it was from low progesterone, he did the blood work and low and behold that is exactly what it was. he is a firm believer in bioidentical horomones as there are no bad side effects)

Since your mother is interested in natural remedies, I highly recommend Dr. Ron Shemesh. He is an MD who uses both mainstream and alternative therapies. His office is at Dale Mabry and Bearss. Visit his website at www.mindbodyspiritcare.com. Feel free to send me a private message if you have any specific questions about him.

I had a complete hysterectomy in 1991. I developed benign fibroid tumors in both lungs from taking female hormones. I had never smoked or drink and was told at first I had lung cancer and had 2 months to live. After lung surgery for a lung biopsy and waiting about three months it was determined it was female hormones that made the fibroid tumors grow in my lungs after the hysterectomy for fibroid tumors in my uterous. The whole time I took the female hormones I had that little inner voice telling me not to but I did it anyway. If I HAD it to do again I would never take female hormones! I had to go off the hormones to keep the fibroid tumors from muliplying or getting larger because even though not cancer if thee ae too many of them or they grow large you will die because they can't take them out. Plus I had to have CT SCANS for 7 years to make sur ethere was no change and they became cancer. After a PETSCAN they found out for sure nto cancer and now I just followup with chest x-rays.

Good Luck to your Mom and God Bless,
D.

My friend went through menopause a couple of years ago because of an early hysterectomy. She used the bioidenticals and swears by them. Her doctor is Shilpa Saxena. Here's a link to her website.
