Has anyone been to costa rica? We were looking at budget worthy places to go in august and it looks like coata rica is by far the cheapest. It looks like its rain season but when i googled it it says guanacaste is dry and get little rain

So has anyone been here?
Was it great?
Did you do anything cool like ziplining or quads on the beach or hiking?
What time of year did you go and was there much rain?

Any other suggestions other than costa rica price range. So far i've seen with airfare from philly or NY 1k per person and all inclusive for costa rica

What can I do next?

Wow! We went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon and we loved it! We went late June/early July for three weeks in 2011. I would absolutely recommend it. The place I went seems very different than the place Riley J describes.

We stayed in four different places during our time there.

Tortuguero on the Caribbean side, la fortuna with the volcano nearby, monteverde in the cloud forest, and samara on the pacific ocean.

All were beautiful. Great people everywhere. So friendly and helpful.

The roads are awful. We chose to not rent a car and use shuttles or private transportation. Worth the cost!

Feel free to send M. a personal message if you have more questions!

Ps - my husband got an ear infection in samara - we found an English speaking doctor who was wonderful!

I would not go there.
I can't believe it is the cheapest place to go at that time of year.

Listen to Riley J.

RileyJ is right.

There are hundreds of cruises that you can take that are less than going to Costa Rica.

There are lots and lots of caribbean resorts you can go to that are less than Costa Rica. Go to cheapcaribbean.com.

Good luck to you and yours.

We've been to Costa Rica a few times, we love it there. Some of our favorite areas/cities are: Manuel Antonio, Mal Pais, Nosara Beach, Montezuma and Volcan Arenal. We haven't zip lined there, but did pretty much everything else. We've gone in the summer (July) and Spring (March/April). Costa Ricans are very nice and if you bring your family, they love children.

I do think there are even cheaper places than Costa Rica these days. From what I hear, Nicaragua is one of them and is also quite beautiful.

Well, if you do go. We stayed in Arenal at a little B/B called the LA Cieba.. What a great little place. run , at the time by a German couple, it was quite pleasant.. near hiking and had a view of the lake.. not sure if it's still there, but if so... it was quite simple but lovely.. also, Stayed at the Sopa Dorado Lodge near the Monteverde Rainforest.. that was decent... and went to a local cafe called Stellas (seems to be where the locals in that are went) all in all was a nice vacation.. this was a long time ago.... but even so... such GREAT memories..

happy trails...
